Jacob spoke to Esau in Ge 33:
I think so, but this time, he did it diplomatically. He had no intention to meet Esau at Seir. Their relationship was still fragile. It was better to minimize contact. Esau probably thought the same as well. He was happy that Jacob lived far from his property. The next record of their meeting was when they buried their father (Ge 35:28).
Jacob told Esau that he would meet him at Seir.14 Please let my lord go ahead of his servant. I will continue on slowly, at a comfortable pace for the livestock and children, until I come to my lord at Seir.”
Jacob didn't go to Seir which was 200 km from Succoth. Did he deceive Esau again?16 So that day Esau started on his way back to Seir, 17 but Jacob went on to Succoth, where he built a house for himself and shelters for his livestock; that is why the place was called Succoth.
