Did I mention; I received a copy of the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible in the mail

It is large, a bit larger than I expected, but not especially heavy. It weighs about the same as a standard size ESV Study Bible.
So, it is big and blue with lots of good notes and essays. It shall become my main Study Bible because it uses a reliable English Translation (RSV CE 2nd Edition) and has good study notes that are neither exclusively conservative nor slavishly scholarly. Thus it has both Good theology and Good English to work with.

I am really looking forward to comparing that with the Orthodox Study Bible, which should be enlightening. I expect to see more St. Augustine and more Thomas Aquinas and other scholstic theologians and less of the Greek and Syrian fathers like the Cappadocians, St. John Chrysostom, St. Athanasius and St. John of Damascus, but i would be surprised if you didn’t find any.

By the way by Ignatius, are they referring to (I hope) St. Ignatius of Antioch, the second century martyr, or the more controversial figure of Ignatius of Loyola, who is unpopular among many traditional Catholics because of the unpopularity of Pope Francis and the current theological orientation of the Jesuits.

I do my best to avoid the Latin Traditionalist propaganda against pope Francis.
