Notice how the author of Hebrews refers to the text of the OT authors in Heb 3??
Heb 3:7 "7 Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says,
“Today if you hear His voice,
8 Do not harden your hearts as when they provoked Me,"

Notice that the author of that greek text writing many centuries after Moses and David does not say "writing through their bias and imperfections" rather he says "The Holy Spirit SAYS".

But some will say "yes but that is just God speaking -- what about when modern man speaks and simply makes stuff up -- shouldn't that hold just as much weight?" --

For some it does.

My faith comes from God, faith is a gift. My beliefs about history of the earth regarding cosmology come from the UB and the Bible. I grew up in Christianity but never did belive in YEC, the flood or the portrayal of God in some areas of the Bible. I was spirit born in 85 and began my search for truth from there.

What's wrong with the flood? Can you judge God for judging sinners?

A detail so obvious that even the atheist and agnostic professors of Hebrew and OT studies in all world-class universities "get the point" -- so not just Christians noticing this Bible detail.

‘Probably, so far as I know, there is no professor of Hebrew or Old Testament at any world-class university who does not believe that the writer(s) of Genesis 1–11 intended to convey to their readers the ideas that: (a) creation took place in a series of six days which were the same as the days of 24 hours we now experience (b) the figures contained in the Genesis genealogies provided by simple addition a chronology from the beginning of the world up to later stages in the biblical story (c) Noah’s flood was understood to be world-wide and extinguish all human and animal life except for those in the ark. Or, to put it negatively, the apologetic arguments which suppose the "days" of creation to be long eras of time, the figures of years not to be chronological, and the flood to be a merely local Mesopotamian flood, are not taken seriously by any such professors, as far as I know.’

That is the opinion of professors not at all inclined to accept the 7 day creation week that we find in Gen 1:2-2:3 yet they can still 'read' and point to the author's intent - whether they agree with the author or not.

This point is irrefutable.

Sometimes movies are inspired by real events. The author of Timothy expressed his or her opinion that the Bible was inspired by events. I do not believe God wrote the Bible.

Since God did not write the Bible, then is it okay for you to pick and choose what you want to believe from it? Because that's what you are doing. Your faith has no authority: It is just whatever you want to believe from whatever text you choose.

In all fairness I think we would expect non-Christians to do exactly that - before accepting the Gospel.

It also tells me that ALL scripture is inspired and that the "Holy Spirit says" is the proper way to quote the text as we saw in Heb 3:7.

Are you suggesting that I only believe the "snippets" in the bible that you believe and then join you in ignoring the rest?

Whoah!! -- my argument is always that everyone has free will as did Lucifer, as did Adam and Eve as did Saul when he became Paul.

You are free to choose as you wish.

And using your own logic on that point - you affirm my "no it wasn't" as much as your "yes it was" because in your book we are both just making stuff up.

In my book - you are making stuff up -- and the Bible is the "Word of God"

Other Christians on this board think like I do, look around. Btw, Timothy wasnt "scripture" when it was written about scripture. It became scripture later when the church decided what books to keep and which books to get rid of.

I belive what I think is true, I'm not going to be a phony and claim to beleive things that don't sound true.

There are some on this board like 'hogshead' who claim they reject the virgin birth and the miracles of the Bible - and the 7 day creation week - and the world wide flood - and can only bring themselves to support the self-proclaimed atheists and agnostics who post on this board - when they are speaking to such topics. And yet he kinda wishes to be classed as "Christian" in some inexplicable fashion - just as you use your free will choice to deny the Bible in your own way - so do they use their free will choice to 'make stuff up' that is almost identical to atheism.

Everyone has free will.

But in the end "making your own stuff up" will not get eternity handed to you in the next life. God made life on this planet AND He gave us the Bible - there mankind is without excuse.
