Colter, I noticed your signature and did some research on the book of Urantia... Is that where your faith comes from?
The scripture. But the newspaper isn't the news, it's about the news. And as we know news can be selective and conditioned by the journalist. The Bible books were written by holy men about the doings of God sifted through their own bias and imperfections. How do you know that Jesus existed and that he prayed?
Which is why you instead quote the Urantia book in your signature, correct? The scripture. But the newspaper isn't the news, it's about the news. My faith comes from God, faith is a gift. My beliefs about history of the earth regarding cosmology come from the UB and the Bible. I grew up in Christianity but never did belive in YEC, the flood or the portrayal of God in some areas of the Bible. I was spirit born in 85 and began my search for truth from there.Colter, I noticed your signature and did some research on the book of Urantia... Is that where your faith comes from?
What's wrong with the flood? Can you judge God for judging sinners? My faith comes from God, faith is a gift. My beliefs about history of the earth regarding cosmology come from the UB and the Bible. Define Day?
The genesis account is flawed.I will point out nowhere in the bible does it suggest that it was six 24 hour days.
Each day likely refers to a period of several billion years.
My faith comes from God, faith is a gift.
Sometimes movies are inspired by real events. The author of Timothy expressed his or her opinion that the Bible was inspired by events. I do not believe God wrote the Bible.--- or --
"All scripture is given by inspiration from God" 2Tim 3:16
"holy men of old - MOVED by the Holy Spirit - SPOKE from God" 2Peter 1:21.
Notice how the author of Hebrews refers to the text of the OT authors in Heb 3??
Heb 3:7 "7 Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says,
“Today if you hear His voice,
8 Do not harden your hearts as when they provoked Me,"
Notice that the author of that greek text writing many centuries after Moses and David does not say "writing through their bias and imperfections" rather he says "The Holy Spirit SAYS".
But some will say "yes but that is just God speaking -- what about when modern man speaks and simply makes stuff up -- shouldn't that hold just as much weight?" --
For some it does.
Since God did not write the Bible, then is it okay for you to pick and choose what you want to believe from it? Because that's what you are doing. Your faith has no authority: It is just whatever you want to believe from whatever text you choose.Sometimes movies are inspired by real events. No, the Son is the Word, the Bible tells you that.
You guys have real control problems, you should ask yourself why it bothers you so much that not everyone shares your beliefs about the Bible.
Is that so? Where did you hear that? The flood story was a genealogical device used by the Hebrew redactors who could not trace their bloodlines back to Adam. To fill the gap they drowned the world.

Other Christians on this board think like I do, look around. Btw, Timothy wasnt "scripture" when it was written about scripture. It became scripture later when the church decided what books to keep and which books to get rid of.You have glossed over a number of details. The 2 Tim 3:16 statement says that all scripture is inspired by God - not "penned by God" --
In any case - you are on a Christian discussion board - should not be too surprising that not everyone believes your "Bible not reliably the Word of God" speculation. I think you would also agree to this point.
I belive what I think is true, I'm not going to be a phony and claim to beleive things that don't sound true.Since God did not write the Bible, then is it okay for you to pick and choose what you want to believe from it?
