Did anyone else want to be a Meteorologist?

When I was a young child, I dreamed of being a meteorologist. Too much of a chicken to dream about storm-chasing though. I was practically glued to the Weather Channel. Did anyone else share this love of weather as a kid?

I loved weather as a kid, and I still love it as an adult. I do want to go stormchasing some day, but it's a matter of money and finding a group that knows what they are doing to go out with. And hopefully, if it is God's will, I will become a meteorologist. I'm in college right now and am shooting for that goal.

I so dearly wanted to be like Gary England, KWTV 9 weatherman in Oklahoma City. He was one of my heroes growing up and still look up to him today, even though I now live 8 hrs from there. He really put it in me to desire to be one, but you got to really work at it in order to be one.

Yes. I have always been into weather since an early age. I made my decision to become a meteorologist while in elementary school. Well, I've been one for over 5 years and I know it was God's will all along.

No, actually I wanted to be a marine biologist when I was growing up. I imagine being a meterologist is an interesting vocation, though.

but i think the field of meteorology is fascinating aswell, exciting and adventurous storm chasing life style, lol. i'm too much of a scaredy cat to do that sort of stuff though

At one point earlier in life, I wanted to become a meteorologist and study the weather all over the world, but my ambitions have changed now as I have my interests and ambitions have moved into the legal system. The factor that I thought looked good about meteorology was the analysing of tornadoes in Tornado Alley .

Me, me, me!!!
I kick myself in the backside every day for not cross training in the military into Operational Meteorology.
The closest I guess I'll ever come is that I am my corporation's Disaster Alert Monitor, so I get to track storms and send reports to upper management when things look sketchy. I'm planning to attend a storm spotter class in Spring 2006.

If I had only gone to Mississippi State, when I had the chance. Although I'm married now, and it would be difficult, I could still hit that goal... Who knows?

I served as an artillery weatherman in the military. Since I was a kid I've loved to keep an eye on the skies and learn to name all the different kinds of clouds. But now as I study theology, I guess I'll end up being a weather prophet!

yup, thats what I intended to do in college, was to do something with weather, but I realized that my math skills arent up to par with being a meteorologist..I still am a big weather fan though! I am a big fan of geography in general.

Yeah I used to tell everyone that I was going to be a meteorologist when i grew up. I still like it now, but I feel more led to go for a major in computers. It's still a fun hobby to have though.

I've always been into weather, ever since I was a little kid. Being a meteorologist has always been something I've wanted to do. So this fall I will start attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to study meteorology.

When I was a kid and even at this point in my life, I would have loved to be a meteaorologist. But unfortunately around the age of 18, my priorities weren't straight and I made some bad decisions. But God has brought me back to college and now I'm going for my English degree.

I still read up as much as I can on meteorology and love watching every single weather segment on TV.

Hehe, I've got half a semester and I am a meteorologist. Although, I am actually going to pursue Secondary Education Math as a career.

Yeah! I saw Twister and was obsessed with wanting to chase tornados and be right in the middle. Now though,I can't imagine what CNN's weather people go through after watching them report down in Florida last year. They sometimes risk their lives.

If I had to do things over, I might have gone ahead and become a meteorologist even though the mathematics courses which go with becoming a meteorologist are incredibly intense.

At the same time, I do meteorology "para-professionally" -- I monitor 50 stations worldwide and collect data from these stations, have my own recording weather station, a quarter-terabyte hard drive devoted to nothing but weather data, I'm SKYWARN-certified and I make my own forecasts (which are generally pretty much on the mark). It's an incredibly absorbing and enjoyable hobby. I wouldn't want to ruin that by doing it professionally and running the risk of "burning out".

I have always wanted to be a meteorologist since I was tiny. The movie Twister just influenced me more when I was younger. Lol. I still love that movie.
