CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yep, I was watching the elections til 4am last night with about 20 guys from my dorm. There are 3 Eastern Catholics in my dorm, and they pointed it out and we were all elated.

I saw that earlier, too. Y'know, it's interesting, there have been recent posts to a Catholic USENET group trying to discourage us from voting for W, by insinuating that he is (or may be) anti-Catholic. Nice to see some evidence to the contrary.
And in fact, a few days ago I uninstalled my USENET browser. Too much of that service has become a digital wasteland, and this is, alas, particularly true of the Catholic group over the last few months.

He is a "Born Again" Christian. No, I don't believe evangelicals pray to Mary. Individuals who are evangelical may, I dont know but as a whole evangelical Protestants do not.christiangirrl said:

I used to live in the great state of Florida where Jeb Bush was (I think still is) governor. He was a godly leader and while I was not aware of his Catholicity, I did know his faith in God was strong. He is a strong moral voice in Florida.
