  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

On the surface then, it appears that auras have a psychogenic source that is still poorly understood. It is unlikely that aura readers can tell us anything informative about an individual's personality.

Other than being unfamiliar with the usage of 'psychogenic,' this seems like one of the more reasonable statements on the subject I've read.

On a related note, isn't it interesting how some individuals with purported supernatural abilities will consent to scientific scrutiny of their abilities, but will ignore the results none-the-less, claiming that scientific observation interferes with their purported abilities? Psychics sometimes make this claim, emphasising that their ability is genuine, but that it is impeded by any attempt at empirical investigation. Hits are counted as supporting evidence, whereas misses are discounted on grounds of some unspecified and vague mode of interference - the "negative quantum energy field".

Quantum effect of the observer.

I know a painter like that: he does great work, but do NOT try to watch him work! Don't change his radio station either. Either one will result in him stopping work for the day, and going to the bar.

Surely this has application to QM? :D
