• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Another way is to ask "is it a tiring and utterly disappointing task to try to live?" If yes, then you are likely a sufferer. =P

:sigh: Hmm this may be true, but just to let you know...
I think my spouse, has NPD (narcissistic personality disorder) and they also think this way...but they experience it totally different I guess in a non-feeling kind of feeling (if that makes sense).

They seem to hardly ever (if ever) experience satisfaction with life.Even though they have hope as a Christian, most of this seems to be for the end when they will be in Heaven.Thankfully, those with NPD usually don't try to commit suicide.

Well put. The soap opera drama parades of BPD-sufferers (I have BPD, so know that I am not insulting anyone purposely =P ) is exactly what drives all of our relationships, friendships, etc., into the ground.
Not Always... Personally and I can only speak for my case.

I am heavily analytical. Drama or chaos makes me actaully shy away from a situation and run instead of persuing it.

BPD's can be typically two types of Control freaks ( again I am not purposing trying to insult anyone I am a control freak and have BPD).

One is that they will control the situation through disorganized and irrational behaviours, or seekers of drama and wanting to be the center of attention.

The Other is they personally are hyper critical of self to the point of analyzing every move they make to make sure that is has rhyme reason and purpose. They do not necessarily care if they are the center of attention. They care only if their own expectations of self which are ridiculously high to the point of not being able to be humanly met are met.

The second classification is the one that I fit into.

I got diagnosed BPD because I cut. Have some depression, some PTSD, some DID, and some anxiety and panic disorders and sometimes I'm clingy and I'm also a loner. I also have some hallucinations. So what were you basing a BPD diagnosis on since cutters are on another thread?

Madison, A very sweer person here gave me a website to go to if you wish to learn about BPD. www.bpdcentral.com You go there! It is a wealth of information, and answers so many questions. My x-fiance has this, and it is a very complicated thing. The more you read, the more you will learn!

There are some churches out there that have licensed counselors that are also pastors at the church (perhaps in the Biblical Counseling department). Normally you find these type of pastors in bigger churches -- if you are low on money, certainly try that route.

For BPD or any other mental disorder, I would definitely find a licensed counselor or psychologist (no matter where they run their "practice"), just because they know more about it than your average pastor.

Psalmreader,
I have had BPD, and have done extensive research on it in graduate school. I have been in therapy for 18 years because of it. I have read tons of journal articles and books written for professionals about it. Why would you think I do not know about BPD?
