Merry Meet!

My name is James, but I prefer to go by my Wiccan name, Thirishar Bearsword. I was referred here by some people at the Universist Movement community and decided to show up and allow myself to introduce me *cheeky wink*.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to settling in here, and generally having a good time regardless of our beliefs.

Blessed be!

Thirishar

Hey Thirishar, how are things at the ole Faithless Forums? ;)

If I may ask.....why are you involved in something like Wicca? What draws you to it?

~Rebekah Greene

That's an excellent question, Rebekah. Have a cookie.

To answer said question... Up until 2000, I used to be Christian. But my faith was fading, since I had never found cause to believe in some being that had never aspected nor communicated with me in any way.

When the WTC bombing occurred on Sep/11/2001, my faith in Christ pretty much went down the drain. I was a hardened agnostic atheist until Sep 2004, when I discovered Wicca during the course of independent scientific research. I delved into magic and astral projection, and discovered for myself the God and Goddess, rather than being told about them by someone else from a Scripture or Catechism. I feel much closer to the gods than a long-dead tribal hero (who was also a member of the Essenes (Jewish theological purists), wasn't he?)

I learned earlier this year that my current beliefs are compatible with the Universist Movement's creed of finding one's own beliefs through rationality and reason. There is no need for blind faith or lack of questioning.
