  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know this isn't exactly a scripturally accurate portrayal of the devil, but did anyone else really like this movie. I loved it both as a Christian and as a Non-Christian. *Mild Spoiler below*

I particularly liked how Keanu Reeves character is portrayed at the very end of the film. Even though he makes the correct decision and overcomes temptation withregards to creating the anti-christ he is not free from future temptation. I love how after being defeated the Devil still tries to lure him back into his grasp. I think this is a highly fictional though accurate representation of real life. Defeating temptation to do evil once is not enough it is a constant battle and one must be ever vigilant.

Devil's Advocate is a great movie!

Why did you post about "Hero"?
That movie brung out a couple of tears from me.
That one scene where the King and Jett Li are talking, and Jett tells him what Broken Sword said about the King and what he is trying to accomplish, and how he understood the King.
The King was so moved, saying that not even his own people understood what he was trying to do.
And then the scene where Snow and Broken Sword fight near the end.

I thought it was a disturbing movie.
Don't worry GL. Just recite, "In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight! Let those who worship evil's might, beware my power.."
... and everything will be fine.

I thought it was a decent film. The whole suicide thing was a bit much. It got to me like the ending of Se7en.

The first time I saw the movie I was so creeped out. I was fixing my computer and just my sister and I were home... I just happened to glance over at the screen at the same time as the first "flash" from the wife's friend's happened and also with the jogging scene. I was just totally wigged out... "Did I see that? Catherine, did you see that? WHAT THE HECK!?"
