• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes I have experiences like that but I believe that although the devil loves to lie and hurt me he is not in control of me. If you are worried about it I would surgest that you find someone to talk to like a church leader or someone like that...I'll say a prayer for you..

Hey there! I seriously doubt that you are demon-possessed, but if you are really worried about it, you could seek out somebody with the gift of discernment. They would be able to tell you once they met you.

I have experienced being that angry just a few times in my life. I almost felt like there was somebody in me having those awful thoughts. I think that is a common sensation when a person is overcome with rage. I tend to think of it as the Devil whispering in my ear, giving me suggestions on what to do next.

One thing that I have found that really works is to pray for whomever I am angry with. It doesn't even have to be a particularly formal or graceful prayer. I might start out with gritted teeth saying something like, "OK, God, let me think. I pray that you do not strike this person dead..." I know it sounds sill, but if you persist, you will find that the anger will start to dissipate.

OK, the person you are angry with will probably think you have a screw loose, but it is better than letting loose on them.

If you do mess up, then you need to apologize to the person that you went off on.

Have you thought much about what triggers your anger? Is it the same thing every time? [I know for me having somebody question my competency or my sanity used to send me over the edge.] Once you figure out what the triggers are, you may be able to catch the rage before it builds up to where you spew.

I hope these tips help.

I personally believe that if someone were to be possessed by Satan, that they wouldn't recognize their behavior as being wrong, nor would they feel bad for it.

I too, have these angry outbursts. Normally when something emotionally traumatic happens, but its definitely not limited to that. I say things that cut people to the core. Things that you dont say to your worst enemy. We are not devil possessed anymore than someone with cancer is. We are just in need of treatment.

Good luck to you.

I used to flip out and rage all the time. It was devastating to my husband and kids. They lived in terror and I lived in guilt and shame all the time.

It took years of therapy and learning to control my temper for me to stop doing that, and get control of myself. Therapy helped me work through a lot of the things that I was angry about. Journaling helped. Taking a walk when I was upset helped too.

I also got into a discipleship relationship with a mature, Christian woman and confided everything to her. She helped me work through the guilt and shame I kept experiencing.

If you would like you can PM me.

Hugs,
Trish

Though demon possession is very real, it is much, much more likely that you are simply suffering from one of the dreaded traits of BPD. I very often do just what you have described. The things I say, they seem so logical at the time, but hours or days later, I realize I was out of hand. Everyone does that, yes, but we with BPD do things to a much more intense degree. I'll say hurtful things over nothing.

Half those who know me, think I am the nicest person they've ever met, and say such things about me to others, while the other half of those I know, think I'm rude, irritable, and violent. =P

I was demon possessed with quite a few demons. Was exorcised since last fall and now all my Borderline Personality symptoms are all gone. Now I just have Bipolar Disorder symptoms and OCD symptoms left. No more anger, quick mood changes, cutting, suicidal thoughts, anxiousness, etc. So I think there is a line between BPD and Demon Possession. One of the differences is the voices in the head or feeling like you're more than one person. I hope I don't sound crazy.

Extremedays, I'm glad you don't think I'm not crazy. Thank you for your prayer. You went through something similar? An exorcism too?

Yes I did, I went through deliverance (which some would call exorcism). I know this helped set me free from smoking and some sexual sin, and an attachment to someone I couldn't seem to break away from. I also recieved powerful prayer, and a leading in prayer for other things but that is harder to define how much that was part of the deliverance ministry and how much was apart from that (because of what God was already doing in me).I know that others prayers and words by the Holy Spirit can make a difference in someones life, it did mine.

I also received breakthroughs while attending a deliverance ministry's conference.May the Holy Spirit continue work in your life.

Hey I can relate.
I was in the weirdest mood one time when i got back from a really long car ride that i had to drive all by myself. When I got back in town, I was the only one at my house... my friend called and said if I was lonely to just come on over. I didnt realize the mood i was in till afterwards. But I just started sharing these stories that were un-needed. And their family is very close to me, so afterwards I felt really bad for acting out the way i did.

But it actually got worse because me and my friend thats my age ended up going to the movies with 2 other guys. And i was still in that weird mood.
My friend could tell i was acting out of character at this point, and I even knew i was out of character too... and she was like would it help to just go home and go to sleep and wake up for church tomorrow?
And my response was "no because I will be like catwoman at church tomorrow" lol
I think what i meant is, in all churches there are those you dont get along with, and with the mood i was in, id be in a bad mood especially to those that we dont see eye to eye on things about. Needless to say, yes ive had moments like this. And i recognize it as a time when we stumble, as we all do, and we just have to move on from that.
If you think this is a bigger deal than just a 'stumble' and it consistently prevents you from growing and knowing God more, then definitely talk to a counselor or spiritual advisor! Best of luck to you and take care!

HEY, Question....

There are other posts on this forum about Spiritual warfare, and people actually seeing demons, and telling them to go away in the name of Jesus Christ.

I am a new Christian, and I have not experienced that yet. But I do go to counseling for anxiety, and some depression, and feel like i have symptoms of BPD....

I have had visions and voices in my head (demonic ones) where I had to talk to this demon and get him out and tell him why he would never triumph...

I thought it was schizophrenia...
So are there different kinds of spiritual warfare, and we (ppl with like BPD and other mental illnesses) fight demons inwardly, while others fight them outwardly?

I do not believe that a believer in Christ can be indwelled by a demon. The Bible says that when we accept Christ we are indwelled by the Holy Spirit of God, and God will not reside with a demon in the same person.

We can be influenced by demons, but not possessed. We are definitely in a spiritual battle, as are all believers in Christ. That is why Ephesians 6 tells us to dress in spiritual armor.

But, the good news is that we have God's Word to fill our minds with. Romans 12 says to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Everyday we have choices. We can believe the Truth or we can believe the lies of Satan. Every Christian, not just us BPDers, is barraged with lies all the time. That is why it is so important to stay in God's Word and know what He says about us, and what He says about Himself.

while I wouldn't rule anything out without direct spiritual counsel and/or intervention, what you describe sounds familiar. I used to wonder if my BPD wife could be possessed but prayer and discernment never showed anything of that nature. her rages sound smiler and they both sound like common BPD symptoms. I don't know if that's a relief to you or not. I doubt you get off with an exorcism and 'poof' instant healing. It may take time and work and a whole lot of prayer. I'll start on the prayer part now.

Borderline Personality Disorder is a mental illness and not demon possession.

Recovery is not Deliverance Ministry however, one can post in Deliverence Ministry on such as you would like. That forum can be found in the Ministry Forums.

Please note also debate is not allowed in Recovery.

Thanks.

I think it's more common than you think. It may not be possession, but may be a sensitivity you have in you because of various things. (Bpd for example).
whatever it may be, just remmeber that drawing closer to Jesus, giving him these burdens, can help so much in whatever the problem may be. stay strong,ok?

Hello, I am meh and helping out the Recovery team right now.

This thread is going to remain closed, because as Tapero stated BPD is a mental illness, not demon possession.

Demon possession is another issue and can be explored further in our Ministry section. Of particular interest for this topic might be Deliverance Ministry.

Also, in our Edifaction section, we have a board called Spiritual Warfare.
