I typically buy Franzia boxed wine. Super cheap and abundant.Typically French wine is much better than USA wine, I mean, who in their right mind buys USA wine for special occasions?
Fascinating! Does this also work for ma and pop stores? Here is a really good mobile app.
You can scan products in the grocery store and it can tell you whether that product supports USA trade or not.
So if it does, you can then choose a different product. There really is no need to support USA products when USA is making this ridiculous attack on global trade trying to bully and extort its trading partners.
I'm all for boycotts of USA products.
Shhh....you're not supposed to tell them that now. There are american companies that profit even if the goods are created in other countries.
I think those apps account for this.Shhh....you're not supposed to tell them that now.
It's funnier if we wait until they buy all of the stuff, post a Facebook selfie of themselves in the grocery store with a "#DeTrumpify" border, and THEN find out afterwards that they still funneled money to American companies.
An app for finding local made is one thing, but an app for avoiding products from a specific country is something else.
Personally I'd like to avoid Russia products, USA products and Israel products. So if you could create your own profile. Maybe a black list and a preferred list. So you black list Russia, USA and Israel, maybe add to your preferred list local made, maybe Ukraine. It will at least highlight things to avoid at all costs, highlight things that are preferred, it would be very, very handy.
Great if you could just take a photo of a grocery shelf and it would super impose the highlights and the avoids.

I don't care about sweatshops, I'm not on a virtue crusade.Just out of curiosity, is China (or any of the other countries that run sweatshops) on your list?
It's all about personal choice, no one is 100% idealogical, that's insane to even think people ought to be. It's about being practical and pragmatic. If not, is this just one of those "virtue signal boycotts" where people will boycott the stuff that's easy and doesn't involve much personal sacrifice?
Are ma and pop stores exporting their products to my country?Fascinating! Does this also work for ma and pop stores?
DoubtfulAre ma and pop stores exporting their products to my country?

The fact that you specifically picked the 3 countries that are the "target of progressive ire" would suggest otherwise.I don't care about sweatshops, I'm not on a virtue crusade.
My country, like many others are not officially getting into a trade and tarrif war with USA, because that would create inflation for us, but another way "The People" can fight back against the insanity of USA is to stop buying their crappy products. I don't need anything USA makes.
That'll show 'em! lolSo apparently, the app is primarily focused on food items, and currently contains only 2.483 food items.
From its Github page:
Detrumpez-vous is a mobile app that allows users to scan the barcodes of food products and instantly receive detailed information about the brand’s ownership (U.S.-based company or not). Here's the list of items you can check.
It's a pretty pathetic list. Although if you want to avoid accidentally purchasing Reese's Puffs cereal or Wrigley's gum, this app's got your back!
That'll show 'em! lol
"I just bought off-brand cookies, nevermind the fact that the American company that makes it were Democratic supporters, doesn't matter, I'll get these other ones....Take that Trump!!"
I think that there's one or two people that are missing the point here.
The global market is exceptionally complex. It's not possible for Joe Citizen to comprehensively and accurately decide what products he's going to buy based on political opinions.
Yes, there are easy targets that are obviously Made in The USA. Jack Daniels is made only in one distillery for example. Local materials, local workers, local know-how. But the app isn't meant to make a difference to the bottom line of US companies. It's there to give a one figure salute to Trump and his ridiculous ideas about Canada. It's there to create a headline. It's there to show what Canadians think of your president, his tarrifs and his 51st state comments.
More power to them.
Reese's Puffs cereal? Sounds deliciousSo apparently, the app is primarily focused on food items, and currently contains only 2.483 food items.

There was another mentioned right at the start of the thread that was Canadian.Right. It's there to virtue signal.
And virtue signaling? What a nonsensical description of it. It has nothing to do with morality. It's a way of flipping the bird. It's a comment on Trump and his idiotic positions.
