Hello,

I pray you all are well. I have several questions.

1. Was Calvin the one who first wrote and preached on double predestination?

2. When were the first teachings on limited atonement. What I mean by this is the teaching that God died on the cross for the elect, but did not die on the cross for the reprobates.

3. Are there any denominations (I am not claiming Calvinism to be one of them), that believe in theological hard determinism? What I mean by that is
— absolutely zero free will
—God controls every thought, every movement, every single thing that we think about and do, and that we have no free will to do anything else than what was predetermined by God.

If you could clarify which question(s) you are answering in your post, I would greatly appreciate it. These answers haven’t been the easiest to find for me. Also please know that outside of question 1, the other questions are not meant to implicate Calvinism. I am not trying to start a debate, just specifically seeking knowledge.

I don't know if you're likely to find any denomination of protestantism that holds the explicit view of double predestination. There are some who will initially make that claim but then back away from it when pressed. As to the origins of it, those who hold to that view try to support it with some of the things the Apostle Paul wrote. But there again, when you dive a bit deeper into it you find that it is not the case. Next along the theological line would come St. Augustine, who wrote some things along the same line. Augustine was fairly well accepted in the Western world but no so much in the East.

He was not, though it was as far as I can tell a fringe view at best prior to him, with only a few individuals having taught it. I think the first person we know of who explicitly advocated double predestination was Gottschalk of Orbais in the 8th century.

2. When were the first teachings on limited atonement. What I mean by this is the teaching that God died on the cross for the elect, but did not die on the cross for the reprobates.

I'm not sure about this one.

I've seen some individuals who believe this, but I'm not personally aware of any full-on denominations.

Gods Elect, Zadok.
Apostle Paul teaches predestined of God's Elect in romans chapter 8 .
The election are predestined, chosen before foundation of the world.
God judged the Election in the first earth age. They stood against satan's rebellion in the first earth.
Gods Elect don't have free will. Jesus will interfere in lifes of His election.
Those of free will have to ask Jesus to come in their life.

Double predestined is by heathen men.
Apostates are hirelings. They broke away from the foundation of the Christi and formed denominations. Documentation, first Corinthians chapter 3 and proverbs chapter 5.

The mormons believe Jesus was crucified on stake, not cross.
Jehovah witnesses don't believe in the Trinity. They don't believe in sheol.

Denominations teach tradition of men and false doctrine.
Those who have holy spirit. It will never go against God's truth. Get the picture.

Gods Elect have holy spirit, romans chapter 8 and first Peter chapter 1.

There's many hirelings around who subvert Gods word. They don't have holy spirit, but spirit of stupor. Documentation, Isaiah chapter 29 and Jeremiah chapter 23.

How do I know if it's false brethren or man of God ??.
Test the fruit. Does it align with God's word??
If something doesn't sound right. Then its lie.
