Lets say you're really-really desperate to determine whether or not you're truly saved.

I've heard it taught: "One who is indwelt by the Holy Spirit cannot be demon-possessed."

Therefore, if I successfully invoke channelling or demon-possession, then I can definitively determine without a doubt that I am truly not among the saved.

How's that? :grinning:

Jesus already died for everyone's sins. If you reject what has happened, then you are not saved.
There is no "test" to be performed. You already are saved. But if you reject it, then you are not.

Salvation is not our promise to God, but God's promise to us, which we trust in. God says: "I died for you!". We say: "Amen!" So, salvation is not a thing or a quality inside of us, but it's external - our assurance is securely in the objective person and works of our Lord Jesus Christ, who paid for our sins on the cross. It would therefore be terribly misguided and dangerous to seek assurance in the occult. It's written that we shall not put the Lord our God to the test.

Why are you testing God?

If I welcomed you into my home and made you comfortable. Would you trash it when I turned my back? Of course not. I’ve gone out of my way to demonstrate love and care. You wouldn’t repay that with treachery if you felt the same.

In like fashion, if you genuinely welcomed the Lord in your life and believe Christ died for your sins; you wouldn’t turn around and channel a demon.

It taints the holiness you’ve received. Why would you hurt yourself and compromise His blessings?

Yours in His Service,

~bella

Faith. Try faith. If you have doubts, then trust in spite of your doubts. You can keep a simple prayer in your heart, "I believe, help my unbelief" Mark 9:24. I get what you're trying to say, but you have to take the risk of faith. Otherwise, it's not faith. :)

Well, one who is in dwelt by the Holy Spirit wouldn’t even want to invoke such things to begin with.
