• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I post a lot of the same things in here, so here I go again...
I've had a break from this forum for a while, but I'm back. Not much has changed for me, but right now I seem to be going down hill. I struggle with simple tasks (such as washing) although have been just about managing to do them. I

need to lose weight, but I always give up, so instead of failing think that I should just not even try.

My relative's dog of 16 years died, and they suggested that I might be able to help with a new puppy; but its not certain. They live about 4 hours away by car, have no internet, no children, and both work. Perhaps that might help me, but the thing is, my parents don't want me going for more than a fortnight at a time.

I've been having a lot of awlful thoughts again, and am seeing my therapist this afternoon. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this. And sorry.

What do you see when you look in the mirror?

What do you think is possibly causing you to spiral down hill?

Don't worry about your weight at this moment, just try to figure out the triggers to this way of thinking.

Pray for understanding and strength.

I'm not sure what is going wrong. A friend said to me that I have so much more confidence than when we met last spring; so maybe I'm doing better than last year. My week was terrbile, BUT yesterday night I had a fantastic time with a friend, which boosted my confidence/ feelings of myself. My theripist implied that I was acting like an "emo" though :(

Oh yeah this whole weight issue has to be put aside for now,
At 18 your body hasn't finished what its doing yet anyway.
It's important to keep your self-esteem up and look after yourself,

If you like animals why don't you volunteer at a local rescue centre or kennels ?
That would help with the good old self-esteem.
Get a little notebook and write down goals you want to achive within the next year

(AND NOTHING NEGATIVE LIKE WEIGHT)
don't read fashion magazines either their all airbrushed anyway.

What do you want to do when you leave school ? do some voluntary work and extra studying!
Read books go for walks, write down 10 things your good at !

hmm... how good is this theorpist of yours?

Unless I am missing something. You sucessfully had good time and felt good about yourself, but opinion of your theorpist took all that away.
