• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi I'm 25 with a pharmacy desk job. I'm a tech. I sit 10 hours a day clicking around on a computer and fixing scripts. Personally I feel like this is pretty close to he double hockey sticks. Not only that I keep reading articles telling me this office job is killing me physically. It's proven sitting all day is very bad for your health and no amount of exercise offsets all the sitting. People at my job are usually over weight everyone eats candy all day. It's awful! How can companies do this to people. Why are we all working so many hours for such little pay and putting our health at risk. I'm very depressed trying to escape from corporate slavery before I die ,but it's so hard to overcome. And then I see people at my job that just seem to not care. They live to work. It's sickening. What's wrong with these people how can they stand it? I feel like I died and went to the lake of fire everyday I'm at work. It's a nightmare having a desk job. It's as bad as prison.

It's possible that the Lord has put there to be His witness. Else, a career change may be better. Desk jobs are boring, but I listen to scripture and gospel music all day that keeps my spirits up. Hope that helps. God bless :).

I understand exactly how you feel. I used to work at Walmart in a position called 'maintenance'. You clean toilets and restrooms all day. You have the freedom to walk around the store and hang around, But it gets tiring waking up every morning knowing you'll have to clean up puke and human waste, lol. Hang in there man.

Will be praying for God to give you wisdom in regards to where you go from here, which path to take. And what your purpose on this earth is for Him. He loves you and desires for you to be blessed and happy. Finding your place to be will help you not feel like your being tortured every day.
Seek God for your perfect place, the place where your provision and blessings are. You'll be much more at peace.

Blessings

I felt the same way when I was your age.

The word "EVIL" in the Bible comes form the Greek Word πονηρός which is ponéros: toilsome, bad.

Is derived from pónos, "pain, laborious trouble"

Which means the corporate world is generally evil. The world is under evil (1 John 5:19).

Remember the Lord's Prayer which ends, "deliver us from evil"

Christians have forgotten who we are really meant to be. - James 4:7 - Submit to God, resist the devil...

Instead, Christians are submitting to evil and disobeying God :(

I'd love to have a boring desk job. :(

What do you do for a living? And it's like call center environment, go apply for a call center pharm tech position they hire just about anyone since most people quit cause they can't stand it. Then study take the pharm tech exam for certification it's what I did. I get okay pay but I beyond don't consider this a real job. Real jobs are like dentist, environmental scientist, doctor, police officer, etc. Your not sitting at a desk for 10 hours at real jobs. You travel, drive your car, speak to people, solve problems, aren't a punch clock employee, salaried employees have real jobs imo.

I completely agree what makes it worse is the corporate world likes to disguise itself as something great and prosperous. It's the same as public school. They trapped us in the school system for years with busy work and I learned very little. Charge tons of money for University and all through school the system lied and boasted it's greatness and importance.

At least if your forced to be somewhere everyday for barely enough to live on and time is something you can never get back society could admit that's it's oppression. Instead, like they did in school they lie and try to jazz it up with silly things like karaoke fund raisers and company picnics and things that i could careless about when I'm worried about dying before I can enjoy my life with my family or starving or not being able to pay rent with the small checks they give.

Honestly, to me it feels like Battle Royal or Hunger Games or even The Purge; because it's something your forced to do to survive that they try to make you peppy about, but it's just evil.

Same in all those movies. There were a few rich or elites or authority figures causing everyone else to kill each other and do horrible things and they made it out like it was some fantastic thing. Media and propaganda to make people cheer and applaud their own distruction. That's how I feel about corporate culture and my desk job.

It's crazy because I watch other employees pick up metaphorical 'machetes' 'axes' 'knifes' and 'guns' and they run to their deaths and beg to be apart of the torture. Just like in hunger games some people were excited to kill when it's a bad thing. That's how I look at worker bee employees who enjoy this scam. I can't understand them, don't they know they are dying everyday? A few bucks is hardly compensation for time that can't be replaced. I myself am trying to work my way out with passive income, freelancing, and entrepreneurship. Very challenging but I'd rather not be forced to celebrate my own toil and misery in corporate culture.

I thought exactly the same! Would be pointless to share what I think because I'd basically be repeating most the things you said here.

One opinion I could offer is that most people just don't bother or don't want looking deep or it matters enough compared to self-preservation or having a "good life". Which is a bad thing (John 12:25)

These truths actually contributed to my anxiety and failures in life which I DON'T regret. Otherwise, I would have ended up living the American Dream but knowing nothing!

I learned to be wise about it. That is to face that reality and work on goals that are achievable to better deal with it in my favor.

But I still get depressed over the time lost, otherwise solving some of the problems with the family and make my parents happy. But now they're old....You can't take that time back like you said it.

It's good what you're trying to do. That's about where I am at now. But it's hard work. I had to sacrifice even weekends and late nights to get the needed skills relevant to the modern market as self-employed. It didn't cost me a dime though because most of the stuff in the internet is free anyways. Most of the things I'm trying to learn anyway are related to my work as analyst. A bit of programming mostly.
