  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi,
I m meeting an issue that bored me .I m currently writing a book and it is a great story. But i m not a trained writer I m not satisfied with my words and decribtions. I like reading great novels and poems, so i compare myself with those books i feel myself too bad quality. Especially I have a big weakness in writing. I tend to write simple sentences and it seems I m writing an abstract summary. But great books must give detail describtion ,describe everything vividly. I have vivid picture on my head but when I put them in words, I tend to write them so briefly....:(
Can u help me?

Read 'If You Want to Write' by Brenda Ueland. Pretty good book, if a bit rambly, but it helps you see that comparing yourself to big-shot writers doesn't get you far. Write things how you see them, not how you think you 'should' be seeing them. And not all books are full of flowery description. I'm not a Hemingway fan, but he's done pretty well for himself, and he's one of the most stark writers out there.

Write the story the way it comes naturally, briefly or not. Then when you go back you may find that the descriptions come more easily--this is what happens to me. The first draft, I just get the story out of my head and onto the paper, then I make it look good.
