Des Moines Man Displays Confederate Flag and Swastika Sign in Yard Next to Elementary School
A Des Moines man is defending his decision to display a large swastika sign in his front yard, right across the street from an elementary school.

It’s happening in the 6600 block of SW 15th Street, right next door to the playground at Morris Elementary School on the south side of Des Moines. William Stark says his sign is "pallet art."

Along with the swastika sign, he is also displaying numerous confederate flags, a "Back the Blue" flag supporting police officers and an American flag with just 11 stripes and 32 stars.

Protest Against Nazi Imagery Sparks Confrontation Outside Des Moines Home
Protester Megan Geha sent Channel 13 News a video showing a verbal confrontation between the residents and the activists. As both sides yelled back and forth at each other, one of the residents used racially-charged language before jumping in their truck and speeding off in a cloud of smoke. No one was hurt during the incident.

Stark had previously defended his signs, saying they are a piece of history and not racially charged.

When people protest, they shouted racial epithets at the protesters... I guess that's part of their "heritage."

And for the record, Iowa was a Union state.
