• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi Grant  ,

Sorry you are not feeling well! That is great that you have given up tobacco/dip (whatever dip is....never heard of that  )! Tobacco is nasty stuff for your lungs!! Sometimes coming off an addiction can be very draining on your body so yes, it could cause you to be very tired and kinda sick (though there could be other reasons why you aren't feeling well...you should see your doctor). It sounds like you are having panic attacks (but I am no doctor)! You really should see your dr. or maybe you could talk to your guidance counsellor at school, about how you are feeling? Feeling depressed and worrying all the time is exhausting (I know...I've been there ;) ). Can you talk to your parents about how you have been feeling? Please just don't continue to live like that...get some help! God tells us not to worry but to bring all of our needs and concerns to Him :prayer: . I will be praying for you....hope things get better!

Phillippians 4:6-7

6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Phillippians 4:8

8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Personally I am not sure why 7 year old is using that type of stuff. Good that you are trying to get off it thou. Cancer all that jazz is prolong use of it last I remember.

Ultimately there are things that happen that we have little to no control over. We can only do what we can, other than that it is out of our hands. God can do anything, take that plate of worries and give them all to our Great Father. Pray to him from the heart and learn to give it all to him. For he is only one can make things happen.

God bless

It sounds to me like you put a lot of pressure on yourself and so do your parents. Our upbringing influences us greatly - you have been brought up thinking that you have to get good grades so now you are internalizing everything.

There is nothing wrong with with giving up smoking because you think that you might get cancer from it. people do get cancer from smoking so to me that sounds rational. But what doesnt sound rational is that you are constantly worrying about you health - this does sound a bit like OCD to me - and maybe you should post your worries in the OCD forum to talk to people who also suffer. I used to have OCD and I still have it to a small extent.

Stress can cause problems with breathing...for the last few months I have been feeling panicky and then finding it hard to breathe - breathlessness can be a sign of stress and anxiety. When did you give up smoking? If it is only recently maybe the breathlessness is just a result from smoking.

Anyway I hope I have helped,
God Bless,
Becky
