• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Dear Kamtre,

I read your post. Thanks for posting. It sounds like you need professional help. You are cutting yourself and are depressed. I think you're idea of seeing a doctor is a good one.

As for being angry at God or hating God perhaps you are putting on God the reasons you are down and that's why you feel that way towards Him. I just want to say that God is nothing but lovely and loving and caring and wants the best for your life. He loves you very much, very much and his promises can help you overcome certain thinking. But I just want to add again that I think you should see someone. God bless you, Tapero

NOTE - I am no doctor, and these are just my thoughts on the matter.

This isn't typical teenage depression, and cutting is NOT normal. Whenever an individual expresses their feelings by this medium, they need professional help, because it can progress from simply carving kami into your hand to wanting to slit your wrists. I'm not saying that cutting is necessarily a sign of suicidality, but I know from experience that it can lead to being suicidal. If you get the urge to cut again, try coming to the SI board for distraction and help, like Bethany ^^ suggested.

What things are making you depressed? One sign that it isn't "normal" teenage depression is whether or not there are reasons you are depressed. If there are no reasons, then there is the possibility that you have clinical depression.

 I'm sorry things are so rough. If you need to talk, I'm here - I'm a cutter, have been for nearly two years now, I'm clinically depressed, etc., etc. So I can definitely relate. Hang in there.

xxx April

Thanks.. I haven't been depressed for a while.. but I find that If I dwell on it, then I slip in.. so I just don't think of it.. the reason I get depressed is that I long for some sort of communication with God. I find that there is a wall between me and God. God has a walkie talkie, and hears all I say, but never says anything back.. I've actually seriously considered going into occult, like cartomancy and some similar stuff, and I've never actually really done it, but I just long for some sort of supernatural contact.. I dunno what to think.. My camp councellor siad It might be becuase I've drawn away from God, but I haven't partied for 2 months, and even then I've never done anything except toke up, and I have only actually partied maybe 5 times in the last year.. so I don't know what to think.. Help? Anyone?

Are you in His word everyday?

I used to sit and wait for the cosmos to fall down to give me a sign. I don't think that it is like that. I think now that it is all in the little stuff. God communicates to us through every little thing on this planet. It does not take a big supernatural explosion for God to talk to us. He is there in the whispering of the wind. We just have to be still enough to listen. I think I know what you are feeling and I strained for that for so many years until I finally started to look for something different. That is when I found God. In the quiet places.

As for the cutting, yes, that is a sign that you might want to get help. Only because it can lead you deeper down a path. I started when I was 10 and the last time I cut was a year ago when I was 26. I never got help and it just kept getting worse and worse. Stop it in it's tracks now. It is much harder to undo all that thinking later in life.
