Depression Support

I am so scared and miserable...why do we have to go through this. final uni exams in like a week and a half and only really starting revision grrr! i just find it so hard to focus when im so miserable, i hate it, i hate everything, and i keep praying god will help me through my exams...but he feels so far far away!even tho he says he will never leave or forsake us, a pretty good job has been done in me feeling like he has...i dont want depression to cause my whole life to fall apart...help me jesus please!

Rabid Rabbit: I'm sorry you've found people in your church unsupportive. It is tough, you start to learn through this time who to trust and who to not. I myself really don't know why some christians react in that way "you shouldn't be depressed" etc. Perhaps they just don't understand, have never been there, and find it a tough situation to be dealing with and just dont know what to say. Not everyone will understand I guess, christian and non christian alike, nobody's perfect and sadly we are let down by some people. But not everyone's like that, and some christians are supportive in some churches too. Pray that god will give you people that will help u, and rant on here anytime lol. Don't know if any of that helped, but i understand how u feel xxx

I'm sorry you're stressing over exams. I'ts hard when depression mucks up everything.
I'm taking a year off study at the moment. 'Was just staring at the books and not able to process what I was reading!
I'll pray God gives you a clear mind for the revision and exams.

Judy, draw near to God and he will draw near to you - if you are really struggling with revision then take some time out to listen to some worship music. pray, read the bible - if you can't do that then just sit and be still with God. I know you feel so stressed out right now but you can get through this and you will - we are all here for you xxx

Rabid_Rabbit welcome ot the forum! i am sorry you have had a bad experience at your church - i had the same reaction at my last church which is why i moved on a year ago and i have to say - i am so well supported now. No one has the right to judge you or situation but God and he loves you as his own child. God will not love you any less for taking anti depressants and it does not make you a bad christian. Depression is an illness and it needs to be treated. Please don't feel guilty.

Big hugs to all - my fiance got his new job, he starts in september - even though i have been in a valley God is still blessing me. Keep your eyes fixed on Him - he will guide you into the light.

Thanks a lot to both of you! Feeling a bit better now, think I'll do well to pass, I'd rather graduate with all my friends, but im just trying to take everything one day at a time, keep praying, and hope for the best, and deal with whatever happens when it does. Thanks for being there for me xx

The exact same thing happened to my friend about a month back. I don't know if doing other things that u enjoy to help take ur mind off it will help to be less anxious maybe? Hope ur ok anyway.

Don't suppose...does anyone know of any good bible passages to read? It's 2:15 am here, and im too stressed and depressed to sleep, so thought id read some comforting bible verses, hehe. often find it difficult to be motivated to read it, but may as well tonight, not doing anything else. Not sure if anyone's still around now...heh no worries anyway.

I am feeling a little drained - i'm pretty happy right now but have a real tiredness hanging over me and i don't want that to drag down my mood.

My wedding dress has arrived so i am having a fitting on saturday and am so excited

*Grins* All this wedding talk reminds me... my older brother told me on Saturday that he and his girlfriend have started talking about getting married. That made me happy that he chose to tell me; he usually tells me very little about what's going on in his life but we had a nice conversation that day on the way to the ice-skating rink. I had a dream last night that they had actually gotten engaged, though in reality the soonest they're planning on getting married is the end of the summer after this one.

I was doing well at first, praise God, but it doesn't seem to be working like it did at first. I'm going to try surrounding myself with prayer and support from other Christians before I work on making any adjustments to my meds. I'm definitely not feeling as bad as I was, but I'm still kinda blue.

I'm sorry that you are feeling blue - sometimes the meds can take a bit longer than a month to kick in properly and then it takes a while for you to get used to how you're gonna feel on them.

Prayer and support is good but do keep an eye on your meds too - i changed my tablets a few times when i was on them because they weren't quite right - the doctor should be very good about this!

I went through a good few valleys but it's worth it - God is faithful. I have not been on tablets for 18 months now and i'm ok - praise God. i still have dips but can deal with them ok - especially with a thread like this

Thanks for the welcomes, guys! I'm not really expecting to be happy all the time, but I thought it was kind of strange that I felt pretty darn good for my first few weeks, then I started feeling bad again. We'll see what happens.

its 18mths this weekend that my husband and i have been married.. very exciting!!
