After years of trying to sort myself out, I decided to keep a little chart- and lo! 5 really bad days immediately preceding my period. (Due to child bearing/contraception etc only just coming to an end, this hasn't really been clear before now- though the answer to the question 'When did you first get depression?' is 'When I was twelve' which is also when I started my periods.)
So, what works? I am open to all suggestions, because I would like to try to help myself before I go to the docs.
