• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've noticed that my perception is effected by my mood, for example music that I thought was negative, sounded more positive when I"m feeling ok, ecspecially poetry, I've noticed that same perception. I want to listen to things that are ok and godly, does anyone else have this feeling and how do you know what is good music/poetry.

One last thought, I think there are also times when I hear something negative and choose to think of the best positive possible meaning..... ok, it's 4am and I'm thinking to much anyway, god bless you and everone..

Hi Darrell,

I agree when you say that music and poetry effects mood. Sometimes when I am down I find it more saddening to listen to country or slow music. On the other hand, I believe writing poetry is a good way to help you feel better. I get a chance to write my feelings down and then I don't feel as sad. I wouldn't go reading Edgar Allan Poe stuff though when you are feeling depressed! I try to listen to upbeat songs when I am down and I try listening to those slower songs when I need to calm down a little while. I just don't think that listening to depressing songs are really good because it can down even the cheeriest mood! Best Wishes to you and I hope you sleep well! Lily00:angel:
