• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I am so depressed this morning, thought I was getting a little better. I even canceled my physical therapy appt., I almost always go to get my feet better. I just can't seem to get going. All I want to do is stay in bed but know I have to get the kids to the dentist later. Don't want to go. Don't want to do anything, feel like dying.

bpsheep, I'm sorry that you are so depressed. I know what that is like: awful!!! Recently I was so depressed that for days I slept all night and most of the day. Then one night I stayed up all night, and my depression was mixed with hypomania. That didn't feel good either, but at least I had more energy. My mania always increases come spring, just like my depression does come fall/winter.

What helps me a lot, especially when I am depressed, is to pray and find something to be thankful for to God. Psalm 100:4 says, "Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name." I never come before God without something to be thankful for. When I was deeply depressed, I saw a man with hearing aids, and that night I thanked God that I can hear. There really is so much that we take for granted that we can be thankful for. I know it may be difficult to be thankful when were depressed, but if we do it and then wait on the Lord, He will intervene work something out in our lives. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, "In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." So, even if I have to force myself, I come to God with a thankful heart.

Maybe just a medication change or adjustment is what you need?

I hope you feel better soon.

Shawn
