Depressed...

Nothing too major I guess, but I just discovered that we will not be able to buy a house this year....

I was really excited thinking that we would be able to afford it, but a look at the calculators and there is no way the bank would lend us the money. With me on a casual wage and then on maternity leave...It just made me real down....

oh well. I just wanted to vent. I was really hoping that we would be in our own place by the time the baby was born....I hate living here....the house belongs to MIL and there are a lot of underlying issues with that....(she doesn't live with us though).

Not sure what I can do about it though, other than get hubby to find another job that pays more, but I can't really ask him to do that, it isn't fair.

oh... I'm sorry... It sucks when you can't do things when you thought you'd be able to!!!

Have you actually spoken to someone from a bank? Or just done the online calculators? I found there was a big difference in what they said.

Also have you thought about maybe not buying a 'house' and maybe buying a flat or duplex or something smaller to get you into the property market? Then later on, upsize? Just another thought...

Around here the prices for a flat or unit are more expensive because most of them are fairly new and brick.
No we haven't spoken to the bank yet, we were thinking about doing that this week.
