• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

soyness,

Dunno what to do? Well, talking about it is a good start! I see you're not online now, so I'm praying that you've been able to find someone to talk about this with.

What are the thoughts running through your head? Is this a temporary feeling, or has it been ongoing? What have you done to help?

I pray that you'll find some answers today, and that tomorrow will be somewhat better.

I remember having days where it seemed like there was no point in getting out of bed. Granted, tri-fecta depression (clinical, seasonal, and existential) did not help. Regardless, sometimes the only thing that made me push through to another day was the simple fact that it would pass.

All emotions are transient; they come and go.

Exercise regularly, set small daily goals, recognize your accomplishments at the end of each day (could be something as simple as getting out of bed and getting dressed), don't stay awake all night long, have a daily routine, open the blinds and let sunlight in during the day, minimize and challenge negative thoughts.

Etc.

You could also try doing volunteer work.

By the way, I know it sounds absurd to suggest things like exercising, volunteering, and going to bed on time. I am pretty sure if you're like I was when I went through depression, you don't have any energy. Getting up and moving around will be hard at first but eventually those things are what will give you more energy and a sense of accomplishment.

Hi guys.
Just feel like I'm not in control over anything. I know my impulsive nature, and mess it up and all. I push people away, making myself even more lonely. :(
Hi,
Sometimes i feel the same way. Not being in control. I don't push people away, but i don't go out of my way to make friends either.
What makes you say you push people away?
We all have our faults. I know i have mine and maybe someone elses.

Seriouly, You seem like a nice person.
How do you push people away?
Chuck.
