Hello!
So for the past week or so, I've been struggling with depersonalization. I've struggled with this in the past when I was under very bad attacks from the enemy. But I haven't struggled with it for years.
It's the creepiest feeling ever. When I look at myself in the mirror. I don't look like myself. It's so weird. Even when I look at pictures of me. It doesn't look like me. I have been praying more, and beginning to fast. So it could be attacks from the enemy.
Anyways, I would like prayer!! I've been praying and asking God to remove this from me. I'm tying to be expectant but it's hard when I feel so panicked on the inside. It's honestly one of the worst feeling I've ever felt.
Has anyone else struggled wth this before?

Thank you!! God bless :)

I think a lot of fasting is most unhealthy. The body needs food to function properly.

I've only fasted from a meal so far. But I mainly fast from social media and television. I don't think it has anything to do with the fasting. I've felt like this before when I was being attacked by the devil. I have a feeling it's a spiritual attack.

Paul tells us to pray constantly (1 Thess 5:17). I think that solves most problems.

Pray, but remember the Lord works through doctors too. If it was me, I’d see one. There’s no ailment that others haven’t suffered, so they may be able to help you. I’m praying for your healing.

Do you have a support group GodsGirl? If not please seek out one (maybe here on CF) and possibly a Christian therapist/counselor. "Heavenly Father, I lift up this sister to you in prayer and pray for your calm and peace upon her. In Jesus blessed and Holy Name, I pray, Amen." The next time you feel this way, call someone you trust. God bless :).

He doesn't say to pray constantly, but to pray without ceasing. To pray constantly would not allow for sleep, and if one prays out loud, they couldn't do that very well while eating. Pray without ceasing doesn't mean you can never say "Amen" and end the prayer. It means "don't give up on prayer"; don't quit praying altogether, don't exclude prayer from your life as a part of your life.

Father, I would pray that if God'sgirl has a problem with depersonalization, that You might lead her to look to You instead of her own reflection or her own pictures of her self. If she feels lost or detached from herself, that she would accept that for a while, and become attached to You. That she would identify herself with You, rather than herself. That she would focus on her inner self rather than her outer self. I pray that she would take care of her face and body, and realize her body is just a tent, a temporary home for her spirit anyway (2 Corinthians 5:1). Whatever is playing games with her mind in this feeling of depersonalization, if she doesn't focus on herself, cause the problem to just fade away. May she focus on her real self, her internal eternal spirit, and upon Your Spirit, and have the spiritual victory over this depersonalization, and find out where her true value is, not in her body or reflection or pictures, but in her relationship with You. Amen.

I would suggest that you spend a lot of time reading the Word, and especially verses about who you are in Christ, about dying to self and becoming the new creation. That has helped me overcome issues like this. In essence, it's about seeing yourself from God's eyes, and defining yourself as His daughter, and His creation. I'd also suggest you pray for Him to show you what this means.

Fasting is good too. That always helps me, and I would add fasting from condemnation to the list. The Lord once told me to fast from condemnation, and I wasn't allowed to think one negative thought about myself for a week, and overcome the thoughts by His truth. It helped a lot. :)

I hardly think "Pray unceasingly" means "don't give up on prayer." I think it means "Pray unceasingly."

Thank you so much! I definitely have been feeling I need to know who I am in Christ lately. I have in the past and recently cared so much about my outward appearance, so your prayer is spot on! The devil has been messing with me, but I'm not going to give him attention anymore. Thank you for your prayer! I am in agreement!

I experienced something sort of like that many years ago as part of post partum depression, but it did not last long. The fasting concerns me. You need all your nutrients. For example I was just reading how research shows that a month of eating yogurt with probiotics can significantly decrease problems with OCD and depression and even autism. (Probiotics are turning out to be very important not just to gut health but to mental health.) Then other studies link some vitamins and minerals with strong mental functioning.

So, I hope you don't miss out on any nutrients at all.

Maybe search on the net, places like Earth Clinic and Curezone to see how others have been helped.

I pray you will be given insight on the cause and the solution for the problem and that it will go away.

You are not alone in your struggles. I would pray to the Lord and ask if him for discernment as to what the underlying cause of this is. I think sometimes this can be related to trauma and exacerbated by stressful events in one's life. Perhaps there is something going on right now that is adding a lot of stress or triggering you, but then again I'm not a psychologist or psychiatrist. I agree with the above good nutrition is important. I think journaling can help to get your feelings on paper and establish a sense of control (and hopefully understanding over your life). There are also grounding techniques you can use where you try and focus on things in the present like sounds or sights or the feeling of something like a coin or something like that to keep you in the present. Anyways I pray you get better and this is resolved quickly. May the Lord guide you in this.
