• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My psych keeps harping on at me to have my bloods done, because she says from the vomitting they could be at dangerous levels. But i just don't believe her that it's as serious as she's making out. I was always anorexic for years and years, but in the last 4 or so months I've been purging (not binging though) about once a day. i will eat something very small- but find myself purging it afterwards.

So she is having a fit about this and says it's life threatening and all that nonsense, and i guess i just don't see how it could possibly be when i've only been doing it for 4 months and there's girls out there that do it a LOT longer and are still fine.

I know what i'm doing isn't clever or anything, but still- i just can't see the severity. am i being stupid and naive or is my doctor being a little over the top? how long would it take of purging to cause problems in my blood tests and health?

i want to stop, but just don't know how.

Tiggie - I agree with Golden - please take care of yourself. Your doctor is only trying to do what is best for you. Everyone's body is different and one person might be able to purge a long time without obvious effect (but there will be effects in the long run). But those are not the people we are concerned about and praying for - YOU ARE!!!

No matter what you choose, know that you are in my prayers! May God bless you! TN

thanks for your replies-
it's just that i don't know how it can wreck me. i mean, if i eat a few hundred cals and then throw up half of it, my body still has stuff to live off! which is more than it used to get when i used to purely starve myself. (i would go 5 days with nothing and then have a plain digestive cookie.) so how can it affect my blood levels if it's actually got something in it?

i just don't get it.:o
