  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Demonic possession?

Do you believe this is possible? What are the reasons for your stance?
It is. However, mental illness is the usual culprit, rather than possession. Here is an interesting take on the matter from an Orthodox Christian perspective: http://www.antiochian.org/node/22478

Also, as a matter of course, prayers of exorcism are recited during baptism and chrismation.

Demonic possession should not be confused with psychopathic weird behavior which can be either organic or functional in origin; but I believe there is such a thing as demon possession as erratic and wild behavior (which is also seen in drug induced states causing violence) ---note Matt. 8:28-32 for possession. This possession is not the same as wicked and heinous crimes by satanic influence, moving one who is atheistic, full of hate, and rebellious toward God.
