  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't think the two go hand in hand, but I just heard about demonic possessions at our Tuesday night service which was held by Reverend Harold Chamberlain..
Christian's cannot be demon possessed as long as they are walking with the Lord.
Christians can however have spirit's fighting from within, and those spirits are what keeps your flesh fighting.
Drug addiction is horrible, how do I know that? Unfortunately I've gone through it twice, and with doing that your heart cannot be full of repentance, IMO. Whenever yuo have church services lets say its Sunday's and Tuesdays like my church~~~You cannot be a Sunday and Tuesday Christian and live your life full of sin the rest of the 5 days.

My ex best friend is possessed by a demon....:( I had many run in's with it when I was her friend. I had to cast her outta my life cuz she was bringing me down in my walk with God :(

I was 17 at the time.

From what I experienced....You should be able to feel that something is wrong when you see the person or go near them. I felt it in my spirit that there was something unusual about my ex home girl. She was dark and mysterious.

Later on, her and I went to go spend the night @ our friend's house when the demon within her comes out and attacks me! (She was no Christian....She was Wiccan. And our friend's house that we were at were Wiccan as well :()

She strated growling and snarling at me like some animal.....And then she lunged at me and punched me and scratched me with her nails. I cried out, "IN JESUS NAME!!!" And she fell backwards and cringed. Because that name has power.

Our other friends that were there were laughing, they thought it was a joke. Little did they know that it was a ghetto demon. Anywayz, my ex homie looks around and sees me praying in tongues to myself. She jumps at me from the floor and bites me hard on my leg!

I cry out in pain and yell out, "In Jesus Name <her name>!!! I REBUKE YOU SATAN!!!"

This time she fell backwards onto the floor. Then she got up again to her knees. Her hair was in her face so we couldn't really see it. Then she started shaking her head as if she was coming to......And she said, "Why did you guys wake me up?" All innocently as if nothing had happened.

I helped my ex homie up and looked her in the face worried. She had no recollection of what happened. I saw it in her eyes.

Later on I told her what happened and she was shocked. She apologized for what that thing did to me. I told her she needed help and I could give it to her....She refused to listen :(

And that is only one of my experiences with demon possession.

Keep your eyes on God and remain steadfast, and this will never happen to you.

That is not correct one can become demon possessed if they are walking with the Lord. It has happened in the past. It is less likely but God sometimes allows it if it is going to bring glory to God in the end.

some drug addicts may get possessed but they would certainly be a small number. They need an exorcism. However most are oppressed by the spirits of drug addiction and need binding of spirits prayers (sometimes called deliverance). Such ministry should be done by mature believers not the new or inexperienced.

By the way I once worked with drug addicts for over 7 years and I have also been present at exorcisms so I speak from personal experience. Before one even prays for a drug addict it is good to pray that you and all your loved ones be covered with the Pecious Blood of Jesus and to pray it again when you are finished. Especially pray this if you have prayed over a drug addict.

Ok I don't really know but should I be concerned about possesion? Everytime it is mentioned I am reminded about the movie The Exorcist and I get really scared. I don't feel that I am involved in anything that could lead to possesion but the idea of it frightens me and everyone seems so nonchalant about it?

People get addicted to drugs because they do not have the satisfaction that jesus offers, the answer is to receive that drink whereof you ned "never thirst again" by allowing Him to teach and lead you.

While demon possession is possible if people get involved with occultism, much of what is called "demon of anger", "religious spirit", "demon of gluttony", "demon of alcoholism" isn't, it's just "works of the flesh".

Friends will testify that after they received the Holy Spirit the bible way (with speaking in tongues), alcohol tasted foul, as did cigarettes, they just stopped swearing etc.

If your Jesus isn't stronger than these things, he isn't the real Jesus !

Rainbow prism. It is highly unlikely that you are going to get demon possessed. Bind in the name of Jesus and his Precious blood any such thoughts as these do not come from God. do not focus on this topic think happy and beautiful thoughts about the love and mercy of God. Leave it alone!!!!

Rainbow, if the son sets you free by infilling you with the Holy Spirit you are "free indeed", you area "new creature". The "attack" is upon this doctrine by doubts / false teaching that some how you are not free.

1Tm:4:1: Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

It is completely contrary to scripture to say that a demon has power over a christian, but some *want* to believe it, it's a cop out on responsibility and obedience . . . and therefore blessing and usefulness.

The make-up of a Christian:

1. spirit man & Holy Spirit -- demons cannot indwell/control here
2. soul (mind/will/emotions) -- can be oppressed by demons ie mentally ill for eg.
3. physical body -- can be oppressed by demons (manifested usu as incurable diseases)

The symptoms of 2 & 3 sometimes make the Christian seem like he or she is "possessed" by a demon, but it is not the case, unless you believe that a demon can stand being in the same spot with the Holy Spirit!

Full possession or possession = parts 1,2,3 controlled by a demon, as in the case shared by Preacherkid99, where the person is not a Christian.

In short, Christians cannot be possessed by a demon, but they can be oppressed/harrassed/stressed/distressed in the realm of the soul (mind/will/emotions) and physical body (sickness).

Hello people! I've been asking about oppression...and you guys keep saying "no you cannot be possesed but you can be oppressed" and just throw scripture at me to prove against the possession debate which i wasn't asking about!!! can someone please get back to my question?

Hmm, I'm going to ask Rev Chamberlain then what he was talking about.

In my opinion it is different to be possessed by demons rather than have a bad aura of spirits around you.. Maybe its one and the same, but to me, they are two different things.

By the way I once worked with drug addicts for over 7 years and I have also been present at exorcisms so I speak from personal experience. rainbow, willing to listen. I like you. :) Have a cookie. I'll air mail the to you.

Anyway. The thought of spiritual attack has entered my mind a few times. I than believe after i think those thoughts that it is simply the devil already putting me under spiritual attack, provoking those thoughts. Try to rebuke satan and those thoughts might leave.

Rainbowprism, to answer your question, yes, a Christian can be oppressed by demons. Satan tempted Jesus Himself in the wilderness. The apostle Paul was prevented by Satan from visiting the Thessalonians. Paul wrote that we wrestle "against rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." The word wrestle means a grappling together, in which each party is in close contact and tries to control his opponent. This is not just an aura of spiritual activity, but the oppression you are asking about. Paul's answer for this is to "put on the full armor of God," so that you will be able to stand (Gr. antihistemi - to take a defensive stand) when the day of evil comes, and, after having done everything, to stand (Gr. histemi - to stand, taking an offensive posture).

Pimorton--bless you, you are right. After what happened to me tonight I totally believe in this and that this is something that God can free you of. I'm still in awe at the moment in light of this evening...I'll elaborate tommorow. G'night all!

Rainbowprism, I think you question has been answered, but I am still fairly new to this too. From what I understand, is when we say, "demon possesed" we give satan and his principalities too much control, they cannot actually posses us. I have no doubt that you may be/have been oppressed. This can come from our past. I believe that our past sins, may have a way of giving satan a foothold in our lives. For instance, if we had addictions prior to being saved, satan knows this and will attack us where we are weak, and where he has entered before. If anyone has more information on this subject I would love it. As I said before I am still learning.
