Haven't had one, don't want to have one, but do believe in them. There's a great movie you may want to check out if you haven't seen it yet. The Exorcism of Emily Rose. It's the hollywood version of the true story of Anneliese Michel. It was produced by a christian out of Biola University. Very compelling movie with very few special effects. Very scary, but not in a gross or gratuitous way.
I've done a bit of research on this issue. Is there something happening to you or someone else that has you concerned?

Well, possibly, several years ago. Here's what happened -
It was at night, me and two friends were sitting in my apartment, just having a conversation. At some point, we heard a cat outside that made a noise like it was extremely scared/irritated at something. Now, at that particular moment, it was like, "yeah, there's a cat outside, so what".
But within a few seconds, I had about the worst feeling I ever remember feeling in my life. I don't know how exactly to describe it other than an incredible sense of dread - like a seriously evil presence was there. Not only was it simply "present", but I felt it move - I could just sense that it moved from one side of the room (from the direction of the cat, no less) to the other, and then gone.
Now, my friends and I were still having our conversation during this. About a second after I felt that happen, suddenly all three of us stopped talking and just looked at each other. One of us (I'm not sure who) said, "did you guys feel that?" All three of us had felt the exact same thing. At the same moment, each of us had been filled with this intense feeling of dread, and we all felt it move in the same direction - from where we heard the cat, across the room, and continued out the opposite side - all of us had had felt the exact same thing. And, apparently, that cat had felt it also.
I do believe the devil and his angels (demons) are very real entities as described in Scripture. Was this a demon? Well, I don't have any idea what else could cause a feeling like that, so I can only assume that it was. I accept that maybe I'm wrong, but I simply haven't figured out any other possibility.

Someone died in our home, and it felt like there was a large dark entity upstairs for almost two weeks after the death. I could almost see it -- it was usually very spherical and about seven feet tall, and hung out in the hallway.
I was afraid to sleep upstairs, and even delayed taking showers to avoid being up there. I was surprised how shaken I was by the emotional shock of the death, and sort of thought I was imagining it and not being tough enough.
I'd been involved in exorcisms before, but had always been taught a list of complex preparations -- fasting, prayer, night-long sessions with at least five strong people... etc. It never occurred to me that I had the authority on my own to tell it to go. Most of my friends who had done exorcisms had moved out of town or moved on to safer theologies.
The Lord woke me up an hour early each day then, hinting that I need to turn on the radio. Each day, a man talked about our spiritual authority... and suddenly I realized I was cowering and wimping out on something that I should be standing against.
As soon as I audibly said "go," the thing left and never reappeared.

I used to do occult, because of it I used to have nightmares every night for such a long time, and I used to wake up with scratch marks all over my body - chest, arms, legs, neck, back, hands, feet, anywhere.
It doesn't matter where I slept, so I know it's not my bed. I slept on the floor, on a bed, on my friend's bed, on a sofa, in another country on a foam mattress, on an airbed, I would still wake up with them. I used to have the spirits in the corner of my eye all of the time.
They all went, the scratches, the cuts, the spirits, when I gave my life to Christ and prayed for the dangerous things to leave my life. He answered, and they went.

Thanks for mentioning that. There was a thread on scratches last month... someone was asking for a possible explanation to what they experienced, and SO many people reported having the same thing! It was unbelievable.
The thing to remember, is that it's not a uniquely Christian phenomenon. Every religion and culture has ways to explain and deal with these experiences.

I like that point. If we choose not to believe in demons, then we have to figure out a different explanation for whirling dervishes, voodoo dolls, voices sending people on missions to blow up post offices, etc. So what's the value one explanation over another...

A number of years before I became a Christian, I had what I had thought was a dream, one night. In this 'dream' I had encountered something that I thought was a strange scarry looking kind of animal. It attacked me with quickness that suprised me. It clawed the left side of my ribs, then I must have woke up. The 'dream' seemed so real that I ran to the bathroom to look in the mirror. When I looked, there sure enough were fresh bright red claw marks. No broken skin or blood. It was so upsetting that I got dressed and went out for a walk at 4:00am...in a blizzard.
The redness eventually wore off, but the marks have never disappeard. It has been quite a number of years since that night. I am just hope I do not have to go through any more military training where we all shower together. These marks were the source of so many questions, and my answer just seemed to make matters worse.
I suspect very much that what I had 'encountered' that night was a demon.

I haven't had any real bad experiences, but one day while praying for a friend to come to church with me, I felt my mouth being held shut, like fingers were holding my lips closed, my first reaction was to tell it to get out in Jesus name, it worked.
I have felt like something evil might be present at times and do the same in case.
I still haven't got my friend to church yet but he wants to go.
He has had issues with drugs dealing etc. so it won't be easy.
But I won't give up.

I feel bad, that anyone who says they have a demon encounter, is automatically labeled with some kind of mental illness like epilipsy or psychosis.

Yeah... sometimes I write something here and think --yikes! What if someone uses these against me in a sanity case some day. (-;

Hmmm, that's weird.
I've been called a lot of things, including crazy, but nobody I know has ever said I'm lying or nuts when I've told them about my demon encounters, but then again, I only tell a select few people, and on here.

I love how prominent demons are, yet atheists and many other people refuse to believe them. No matter how much proof is thrown to some people, it will always be "fake", "delusion", "coincidence" or "not enough proof".

Many many years ago, when just a child and new believer, I was visited most nights by demons trying to hurt me. This went on for years. When I left the situation, the visitations went away. Learned much about submitting to the Lord and resisting the devil during that time.
Occasionally now, I sense a presence. When I do, we (husband and I) plead the blood and send them away. Interesting thing, asked for discussion about it on another thread and got little to no response. Since we have lived in this house about 10 years now, every time we sence a demonic presence and send him packing, we will find a dead creature (squirrel, bird, mouse, etc.) and then get a notice from the city for violations that don't exist. In fact, when I call the city to find out how to conform they admit that what is being considered a violation isn't but it has happened so many times that they are now threatening to take us to court if there are any more violations levied. Now sure how this is all tied together and would love some imput.

is there someone that can help you fix whatever it is? HUD? Friends from church?

The problem is that no one knows what the problem is. Here's one of the latest examples. The citation was for toys in the yard. I examined the yard carefully and found 3 toys. A swingset, a basketball hoop and a little peddle car. I called the city and asked what toys were in violation. The answer was the toys. I pressed so that I know what to do to conform. Is it okay to have a swingset in the yard? Yes. Is it okay to have a basketball hoop in the yard? Yes. Is it okay if a peddle car is in the yard? Yes. Okay what then is in violation? All the toys. What toys, the only toys in the yard are a swingset, a backetball hoop and a peddle car. Answer: It is your job to teach your children to pick up thier toys, get they cleaned up out of the yard or go to court. But I don't know what you are considering toys that are in violation. If they aren't cleaned up you will be in court. By this time, I am even more confused and we look over the yard with a fine tooth comb and ask friends to look and see if they see anything that we could do to conform all the time knowing if we don't fix it we will be in court. Eventually, it comes down to nothing can be done unless we remove the three toys that they have said are acceptable and so we do nothing. Guess what? No further citations and no court hearing. Everything is quiet again until the next bout.
Once we bought an item that had a large flat box. Two days later we were going to recycle. We set the box on the porch to keep it from getting wet. Got a citation for it. Called to ask what we were suppose to do with such items until trash day. Nothing, there was no violation, we didn't know it was only there for a day or two. But it will remain on your record as a violation.
Once we had an issue with trash. They missed our pickup. Everyday for a week we were told it will be picked up today. Everyday I called and asked why it wasn't picked up. Got a citation from the city. Called and asked what I was suppose to do if I was calling everyday and everyday promised it would be picked up today. Oh, we didn't know, you should have called me, I could have called them to get them to pick it up. But the citation stays in our records as a violation.
This is the type of usual violation we get and it always occurs when we send a demon packing. For example, our son has been making bows and practising shooting at pizza boxes. So the yard is a mess with pizza boxes, but there have been no demonic activities and no citations.
