Garland was a highly respected federal court judge. He was nominated by Obama because of his moderation and fairness (because he knew that McConnell's highest goal was to prevent anything Obama wanted from passing. He felt his obviously prudent, safe choice would get the requisite number of votes, but he underestimated the radicalism of the right.)

He has not been nearly as active as he should be as AG, especially in prosecuting 1/6. Right now the House is doing all of the heavy lifting, and has supplied Garland with plenty of evidence to build a case against the primary actors of this conspiracy.

Would you prefer I find the dissents on these cases? I am sure they are referenced online, and I am sure that they are compelling.
I can say with certainty to Second Amendment advocates that yes, the government has overstepped its bounds and by the time they get to your cherry-picked priorities your guns won't do you any good.
Voting rights;
The Best Lines From Ginsburg’s Dissent on the Voting Rights Act Decision
Ginsburg's politics are showing here. The VRA of 1965 was always meant to be temporary. That is why it had a 5 year expiration. The Congress kept passing reauthorizations in 1970 for 5 more years, in 1975 for 7 more years, in 1982 for 25 more years, and in 2006 for 25 more years. The coverage formula in Section 4b had been mainly amended to increase adding further areas that required preclearance between 1965 and 1982, which was the last time the formula was changed before 2013, when the Supreme Court tossed the whole thing out as so out of date as being egregiously restricting any voting changes in certain counties and states while turning a blind eye to other areas voting changes. Truthfully federal interference in elections should be restrained as the constitution gives the power to run elections to the state legislatures. When the VRA was enacted in 1965, there was a compelling need for federal interference that had greatly diminished by 2013. If you chose to debate this, then please do some homework and not just point to an article from another liberal magazine.

One need only to look at the mad rush to pass voting restrictions after the 2013 decision and the rise of white supremacist groups in recent years to see the wrongness of this decision

History has indicted these black robed supporters of racism, whether due to shortsightedness or misplaced faith in the character of the American people. I'm not sure.
Even worse, after realizing they had misjudged the progress they mistakenly believed we had made prior to 2013, they doubled down last year!

What you are call liberalism is ethics. Fairness. Democracy.

Pick a state and we can go over the voting restrictions that you think are getting worse. Just realize that I love to do research on this stuff and will meet opinion with fact.

We probably trust different sources. For example, I belong to the ACLU.
You are probably right. It is a terrible thing when paradigms drift so far apart that they can no longer share a common source of experience, aspirations, triumphs, and defeats. I think there is probably much, though, that we could agree upon. It just takes a lot more hard work and humble soul searching. God be with you.
