  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know the requirements have changed since I first looked into it. It used to be that men were only admitted into that program under very special circumstances. They were to serve the congregation during their formation, but were also expected to work outside of the parish. The program was for churches that could not afford to call a full time pastor, and that needed pastoral care in order to survive. I do not believe that those are the requirements anymore.

I have very mixed feelings about the program as it is now.

I wasn't here when the decision was made so I'm not sure what all sent into it coming about, but I know calls were not answered and the church was at the mercy of the Spanish mission pastor for quite some time.

We are growing and aside from the growing pains, which I have had to learn from the hard way, we are progressing and working together to help one another. It isn't always without frustration, but it has taught me some much needed humility. I can see our pastor changing and growing and shepherding. At least he admits that he doesn't know it all and that his ways are the only ways. He listens and encourages overall helpful input.
