You need something to equate it to, though.Within math x is definied as a unknowned constant, that doesn't mean we cannot redefine it to a unknown variable.
Again though, if you are going to change:The same way, evolution is defined as the survival of the fittests in everyday language. That doesn't mean we cannot redefine it as the survival of the basic instincts!
I think that would be what is caklled in logic a "stipulative definition" where one stipulates a certain meaning. However they need not relate to ordinary language, and I suppose to be practical must serve some purpose. Just saying "I define evolution as such anc such" is a bit pointless, because in the theory of evolution there is I suppose a theoretical deinition (which is a techincal definion in the context of a theory) which comes as standard in conversations about the topic. Imagine in we took Einsteins "E=MC^2" and said "I define ^2 as ^3 (squared as cubed)" - what would be the point? So unless you have a point in redefining evolution, or perhaps want to explore a concept, why bother?Within math x is definied as a unknowned constant, that doesn't mean we cannot redefine it to a unknown variable. Variable / constant -- what's the difference?Err... X usually is used (not defined) as a variable, not as a constant. So what the heck are you talking about again?
Thats another way to see it... but given the right answer it is a constant...
QaQ vum!And guess what the words will be I who define them!
I told him, "Good work!" in Klingon. If your response is related to her message (and not a sarcastic comment, I can't quite tell), you are light years ahead of me!
