A clarification please. If evolution is "change in allele frequency in populations over time," what is the definition of a population?
If I sample a group of sparrows in May and then a rival gang of sparrows takes over that territory in June, killing off the original group with no mingling, the allele's might change, but I don't think that constitutes evolution.
