From a historical perspective, I would say that which holds to the fundamental doctrinal principles of the Protestant Reformation.

Sola Scriptura
Sola Gratia
Sola Fide
Solo Christo
Soli Deo Gloria

Salvation, as revealed in Scripture alone, is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone to the glory of God alone.

Also fundamental is the doctrine of monergistic regeneration.

A good gauge of Reformed theology is the major creeds and confessions: Heidelberg Catechism, Belgic Confession, Westminster Confession of Faith/Longer & Shorter Catechisms, London Baptist Confession, etc.

Reformed Theology is Covenant Theology

Reformed theology is really 'Two Adam' theology since the Bible clearly teaches there are two representative men. The first Man (Adam) and the last Man (Jesus).

  • "So it is written : the first man Adam became a living being the last Adam, a life giving spirit. The first man was from the dust of the earth, the second man from heaven." (1 Cor 15:45,47)
  • "...sin entered the world through one man and death through sin and in this way death came to all men.." (Rom 5:12]
  • "For if many die through the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift [righteousness] that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many." (Rom 5:15)
  • Just as the result of the one trespass was condemnation for all men [in Adam], so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life to all men [in Christ] (Rom 5:18)
In this way these two men represent all people according to Scripture.

Either a man is in the first or the second Adam. The Man of the earth or the Man of heaven

  • The first Adam broke the covenant [of works] in Eden and brought sin, death and judgment upon us all. (Hos 6:7; Rom 5:12f).
  • The second Adam kept the covenant [of grace] with perfect obedience and then gave up his righteous life as a propitiation for sin and through him brought righteousness and life to all who who trust in him. [Rom 3:25; Rom 5:12ff]

I am sorry that i didn't say please it's just that I'm new here and didn't realize that we are supposed to say please on every occasion, even though I was voted most courteous in my class.

Thanks guys for the imput.
I agree with:
