One word? "Charity"

In the old sense, it is chief amidst the behaviors a Christian ought display, being equivalent to all forms of brotherly affection; in its new sense, it refers to the act of bestowing one's wealth on those who have no wealth at all, and such is the Gospel of salvation, that God who had much gave me His all.

Christ.

why?

1. who is He? he is the Son of the Creator God, begotten not created, He is beyond time and space and still has time for us!

2.He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life. He died that we might live. AND more then that He miracuosly rose from death!

3. He is what we wish to be. his character is perfect and we struggle to be like Him.

Define Christianity in one word

If there would be one word which for you represents the essence and spirit of the Christian teaching - which word would it be?
Although man has many different (often contradicting) teachings of Christianity, God's consistent message throughout the Bible is

Love

(as Eternal Mindset and others have indicated).

"Manipulative" or "false".

In a sense I agree. However, what Lithium Hobo most likely perceives Christianity to be is based on bad behaviors (including doctrinal issues) and a great deal of some bad history that humans calling themselves Christians (or even doing these things in the name of Christianity) - not that they aren't Christians. Many are not what God wants as an example of Christians, which should aid, not hinder or destroy the spread of the Word. The word Christian has a broad definition. See the entries for the definition from dictionary.com.

Whoops: Was I suppose to respond to Li hobo? The icon and his/her response leaves no doubt that Li hobo should not have posted here. I am new - so I guess I'll be checking the rules now.
