  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey rdee, what is the difference between verbally preaching at someone or preaching? I don't do that much anymore because I've taken a different direction in my relationship to God. Every year that passes at this time of the year gets more serious and increasing in God's grace.

Note:July 5/05

I can say that I have done both. I can be a pretty verbal preacher because I'm am athletic person. But someone once told me to be quiet and I became a quiet person after that. :) I decided that I would rather have a relevation type of faith and ask God what was required of me, and it started last year.

This type of faith often requires waiting for long periods in patience, but the effects are more prevalent after these waiting periods here on earth.

1 Corinthians 13
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all the mysteries and all knowledge, and I have faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

Paul wrote that whatever things are good, true, and just (I'm paraphrasing), meditate on these things. I cannot understand myself sometimes; my car had transmission problems, and then I was involved in a major accident. The outcome was simple: my father bought me a new car. Then the brakes went on that car. Instead of praising God for giving me the car and knowing that everything will be all right, I began focusing on my circumstances. Know that whenever people focus on their circumstances things can look helpless. But if we turn to Christ as the source of our strength we will find the problem is not as monumental as we would think

i had to think about your question, and i prayed about this answer. these bible scriptures came to me.
how the begining of scriptures greeting, loved, blessed, then taught.
example:

2 John 1:3
Grace, mercy, and peace will be with you from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

then the scrpitures that convicted this response:

Ephesians 4:14-16
14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head--Christ-- 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

it doesn't matter our personal points of veiw. what matters is we point people to the one thing there is no misunderstanding: we need God. God wants us. Salvation is a free gift. we need the bible. we need to grow. we need eachother.

i think if you are preaching in a teaching sense, honest and prayerfully, with the heart of peace and blessings, then you are doing what we are suppose to do to fellowship.
i think we need to see the person/or people as real as we do our cherished child, or sibling or parent, or loved freind: a child of God. we are held accountable for this too. this is our fruit that we are commaned to bear.
sometimes tough love is even called for. at times we do need to be truthful to what we see.
grieving with those who grieve. rejoycing with those who rejoyce. being Christlike is being full of love to help, not condemn. we want to show people Christ's love through our planting the seed for the Savior. :holy:
a famous poet wrote: i'm the seed, He's the Savior! we don't have to try to do anything but give the seeds and water if we have an opportunity. God convicts us all the same way. His great hand is in our life lessons and thoughts. He persues us.
an important thing for us christains not to do:
try to convict or condemn in manipulation. it seems to be a big problem among us. throwing a scripture to hurt/convict out of wanting to be right, or getting a result we want. i think we trip ourselves up and off of God's will onto our own this way. and really injure the oppotunity to leave the seed God intended. :groupray:

your scripture says it all....

1 Corinthians 13
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all the mysteries and all knowledge, and I have faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

I hope I'm ok.

I've been studying the more serious Old Testament sections. It is easy to overlook the big picture about love. Sometimes I get a little overwhelmed when I am focusing on God. I'm sure God knows my limits and ability to keep my thoughts in the Spirit.

What you did was remind me of the more essential.

Some of the Prophets in the OT like Daniel saw visions from the Almighty, what they did was spoke openly and argued thier visions and interpretations on a public court. And they were often overcome by the sheer awesomeness of God, and had to take time-outs.

To rdee. <preacher mode>

My theology and sense of self continues to get stronger and more consistent because of Jesus' help in my faith. If my personal faith in Jesus is not expressed, then I would be doing my God a disservice.. While I tend to retreat into the far corners of the Old Testament in study of prophecy and understanding of God's ways, how high and far-reaching the Almighty God may be, they are still beyond my intellectual grasp.

What the Almighty did was send His Son called Jesus. But Jesus was made in weakness, but His weakness and humanity allows a great gap to be crossed over so we can relate to an Almighty God through Jesus' humanity. I believe that God, the Creator of all things and substance, endowed the head of Jesus Christ with all of his honors, riches, understanding, and the blessings of the righteous.

I should understand that even though we are not always perfect, but Jesus makes us perfect in our weaknesses. When we do something out of love, we represent Jesus' all-encompassing love. Even the people that reject and disrespect Him are often spared with compassion. But us Christians get special recognition and special places for turning our faith, fears, and doubts over to God.

I believe that Jesus Christ is a God of Revelation and spiritual visions. That is just the way I try and understand what He has in store for me. Jesus is also a Divine Physician and can heal people with touch, but we don't always understand why everyone does not get healed,or why there is violence in the world. But God's thoughts are not our thoughts and ways. We often come to learn about Jesus' divinity because he himself suffered for us and bore our sins.

Isaiah 53.3
Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smited by him and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him.

Jesus' is the ultimate example of love and how to act toward our fellow neighbors. His love often meets us in our shortcomings and failures that we sometimes impose upon ourselves. God's righteousness was bestowed upon him through his suffering and death. It is overshadowed by Jesus' glory and all wisdom of humanity. He bestows his righteous blessings upon our heads.

did you know that officially i am mentally ill? it's complicated on the medical level, but to me, not so so complicated. i am one that God has chosen not to heal. so, knowing how much i am shaped by excepting both the great in my eyes, and the low points/or suffering in my eyes. i'll just say :amen: ......
not only am i shaped, but i bear fruit through all of my exsperiances. there is alot of christians that suffer from clinical issues.
and something i'm alittle proud and feel blessed about: it baffles my doctors (even the christian ones) about how smart i am with nuerological problems.

No, I didn't know that.

But I've spent time with children who had problems when I was in elementary school. I remember wishing they would be healed and that could be caused to walk out of thier wheelchairs.

What is that like? Is like not feeling good or the way you want to feel or percieve things??

Maybe that is none of my business. But did know that the Resurrection of Christ also baffles doctors, lawyers and other professionals?

I hope you will conquer your illness and continue on in God's grace.

Your friend, Knowledge :)
