  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I can appreciate what you intend, but it is important, I see, to not be occupied with being a "disciple" (follower), but a faithful "saint" of God ---by a new birth. After the Gospels, and a few references in Acts, we don't read of disciples (meaning hopeful followers), but saints of God. When one is "born again" by the spiritual new birth of one who is now in Jesus, the Christ (John 3; 1 Jn. 5:10-12; etc.) that one is not just a follower of the Lord's teachings, but now a "child of God" by the new life given in the birth (note also John 14) ---one possessing Christ. We then need to be obedient to God's Word and always seek to honor Him in our walk and conversation.

This is an important distinction to see what our relationship should be. God wants us to be His children, not just followers trying to keep some teachings. Many religious souls seek to win God's favor by following some of God's teachings. I hope this will help shed some light on the subject.
