What is the above but a bit of bellicose complaining about somebody else's religion? Beside it isn't true. It's hyperbole. And it is rude.

I agree.

I had a lengthy reply all typed out, but then I decided it wasn't worth it.

Not even. Catholics are supposed to be one. Protestants are split in a million different denominations and vary greatly. Pentecostals and Lutherans are night and day.

Aside from Lutherans and Anglicans is there any religion you like enough to say something good about?

Its a TV show run by Mother Angelica. It is independent and run from her lens. It is also independent from the Holy See and at one time the Holy See ordered an apostolic visitation to investigate the network. Its had its ups and downs.

Using EWTN as a compass for the Church seems kinda dishonest.

Sure, considering I'm interested in becoming Orthodox. I don't know where you get the idea that I'm fond of Anglicanism. I'd much rather be Anglican than one of the real Protestant denominations; because let's be honest: Lutherans and Anglicans are *hardly* Protestant; or, rather, we're Protestant and the others are something else entirely. I have some strong opinions about the Anglican church, especially the allowance and tolerance of homosexuality as if "it ain't no thang." Just as I have strong opinions about the ELCA for similar reasons.

Apparently many of you are super sensitive. I'm not throwing stones at you people for Marian theology. Marian theology doesn't bother me whatsoever. I do think lines are crossed at times, but it's not proper to debate that here nor do I even want to.

My point is that, from the outside looking in, Mary's name itself is heard more often than Jesus', which, naturally, would lead to "the wrong idea." Channels like EWTN don't help. The Lutheran individual in the OP ist exactly going to spend a lot of time in Catholic churches and circles. EWTN and some random conversations is as close as many of us come.

Lutherans are anything but Catholic. They need to stop taking from our Nicene Creed.

Small "c" catholic. And yes, they are very close to us. A different emphasis on justification, a bad history, and some hyperbole has led to bad feelings on both sides. But we are much more likely to find some sort of reconciliation with Lutherans than we are with , say, Baptists.

I don't even know what you mean by taking from the creed. Maybe you mean how they say "one holy Christian church" instead of catholic? It's because they translated their Creed from the German which uses "Christian" and not "catholic" even in the CC's creed. So not a conspiracy. Just cultural differences.

Pretty much, yes, and it's awful. Thank God Lutherans and Anglicans are a very different breed than those hooligans you see on TBN and SBN, etc. Actually, the Catholic Church and money was one of the hot button issues with Luther.

Aside from Lutherans and Anglicans is there any religion you like enough to say something good about?

I see that not even the Anglicans get a good word. I was mistaken to see your earlier post as implying approval of them. But at least you appear to think well of some Orthodox. That's something I guess...

Cheers.
