• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Deep devotion to Donald does not make a person a Christian.

Christians follow Jesus. Supporting Donald Trump is not the same thing as following Jesus. That's too obvious to need saying, right? So why do people act like supporting Donald is a Christian duty - come on people, Donald isn't one of the twelve apostles or something.

Seek Jehovah while he may be found, call upon Him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his ways and the unrighteous man his thoughts. Let him return to Jehovah, and he will have mercy upon him, and to our God, he will abundantly pardon.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says Jehovah. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55: 6-9.

People who say that also applied it to Barack and all previous presidents. That is to say that they consider it a Biblical principle to respect lawful secular authority.

Yes, we are followers of Jesus, not Donald, and if Jesus asks you to vote for Donald, vote for Donald.

Jesus has more sense than to ask Christians to vote for Donald.

After the Access Hollywood tape revealed Trump bragging lewdly was aired on TV and the Internet, I supported other candidates. God does not recommend adultery and fornication. I researched the Trump campaign's alliance with the Kremlin in order to get information stolen from DNC servers by Russian intelligence made public. The Trump campaign colluded with Russia. It was a conspiracy; a criminal syndicate. Breaking into someone's computer to steal is like breaking into a house to steal.

[1] Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

[2] Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

[3] For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

[4] For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

[5] Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

[6] For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.

[7] Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

Do you think honour is due to every President of the USA? Really?

The Donald in the white house. The duck one is a cartoon figure. :)

Got it! One wears sailor outfits and no trousers and the other one is a duck

Not the original post.
Interesting. The OP gave us a good example of what they call a strawman argument, didn't it--present a statement or POV that is attributable to no one...and then proceed to discredit it?

Tweets, perfidy, concupiscence, envy, greed, lust, and probably many many more things are wrong with him.
I don't think tweets are a sin. It's the only way he can get his thoughts out to the people.

Perfidy? I think that's a matter of opinion.

Envy? I see no evidence of this.

Concupiscence and lust - we are all sinners. Just because someone accuses you of a sin that happened long ago doesn't make you a bad person. The Lord has forgiven you and me for our sins.

Greed? He gives his president's salary away to worthy causes.

I don't think tweets are a sin.
Read them. They are full of lies (lying is a sin) character assassination (calumny is a sin) and boasts (pride leads to many sins).
Or not to.

Jesus asks his people to avoid becoming part of the world. It's no good for church leaders to advise their people to vote this way or that in a worldly political fight.
