Decreeing things in the Spirit

Hey this came to me in a dream several nights ago- you can decree things in the spirit! If you are praying for someone named Dave, you can say "I decree- that Dave is healed, Dave is delivered, and Dave is free in the name of Jesus!" Things have been coming to me in dreams several times now!

So how has applying this idea outside of dreams worked out for you?

Its presumptuous and dangerous to believe we have authority without a case by case instruction from the Holy spirit.. to think that we can decree things and make them be so.

Now i have witnessed this in small ways. I have sometimes said things like "i will be there in 35 minutes" and traffic gets influenced in a way that makes me arrive at precisely 35 minutes from when i spoke the word.

But that could be coincidences

Oh Dave. Where did you get this authority? Telling God what to do. God is the kingdom, the power and glory forever. it feels good, Benny Hinn does it? What kind of reasoning is that…. People want to be powerful that have no power. We are flesh and blood. Our power is prayer not in commanding anything. We should judge cities, we should judge the body. But who is qualified? Those well versed in the Word of God. You want power in the flesh I think…. Prophets of old commanded things. But….

Oh snap, I was hoping for some good news on the application front. Afterall, The study of God or theology is more than just book study.

By what is written in scripture and what has been my experience, we are able to "command" some things to a degree, but I don't think there is a scripture example of decreeing, unless I'm just overlooking it.

Yeah, they never did record Paul actually moving mount olympus or anything. or John saying to the Isle of Patmos, a little to the left. . . yeah. didn't happen.
