Decline of Civilization?

CIVILIZATIONS RISE AND FALL. Few that are of it doubt that Western Culture, that of the U.S. and Canada, Europe, Japan and various other kindred areas (Australia, New Zealand, the Falkland Islands, etc.) is superior to that of others in especially our freedom and our technology. Few Latin Americans would say that the culture of their westernized areas is not superior to that of primitive tribes there. No doubt some such as Osama Bin Laden have delusions of grandeur as leaders of a revolt of the poor over the rich. I hope something like that would fail but have no illusions it could never succeed.

Don't fall for the fallacy of the Pat Robertson-Jerry Falwell school of social analysis. God did not crash planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Men did. they claimed to be acting under authority of God but so did David Koresh, abortion doctor assassins, anthrax poisoners, and the Nazis. A claim to represent God does not constitute God's endorsement. Blaming God for these acts of men is like buying cookies made out of mud from a sleazy entraprenneur in a tattered green skirt, saying 'these cookies are awful!' and then blaming the Girl Scouts.
