  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi! I have spent the last two years attending a very liberal, Catholic university in Denver. I have not enjoyed my experience very much (even hated it at times), but I loved commuting so I could live with my family. I am the oldest of seven kids and I am very, very, very involved in my family's everyday activities.

In January, my family had to make a big move from Colorado to the suburbs of DC for a job. I decided to move with my family to help out (and because I would miss them too much far away!) and went to Liberty University Online for a semester. I loved the evangelical side of my faith even though I am Catholic, but the school was a little bit less challenging. I am also very conservative politically and agreed Liberty on so much more of that stuff, which is what I am majoring in (Politics!).

I am now being forced to make the very hard decision of whether to return to Regis in Denver and live without my family (except one younger sister who move with and we would share an apartment) or move to Lynchburg, VA to attend Liberty on campus and be a short 4-hour drive away from the rest of my family. It would put me behind on credit hours to attend Liberty, but maybe it is worth it. I would have to live alone at Liberty, though, since my sister would still live at home with the rest of my family in DC.

I am so torn in this decision and just cannot make a decision. I need some advice (bible verses, Christian articles, wise words, etc.) about how to make this decision. I don't have much longer to make a choice and I just CANNOT choose. Please help!

#1) Which college is better for your degree?

#2) Which college is the better college for your life and to meet your life goals?

#3) Is there a significant difference between the two colleges and questions #1 and #2?

If B is better than A however the difference is slight and doesn't really impact #2 then choose the college that lets you live near family.

However, if B is significantly better than A and will have a quantifiable difference in impacting #2 then you go with B regardless of where B is located.

Basically, you have to be able to look at this long term, you have to take the long view here.
Sometimes, what we want and what we need are two very different things.
