• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Congrats to you Halifaxhoney
on your decision to quit drinking!

Don't worry about the days. I did for a while and then realized...'One day at a time' made it much easier than looking too far into the future.

I agree with Justanobserver when he says to go to a AA group! I have and am SO grateful I did! The fellowship and encouragement and acceptance from those that have been there, done that... is such a blessing!

Please keep posting to let us know how it is going!

Happy for you!

Congrats on your desicion!!!

I know that realizing this can be hard to admit and then hard to even see. Keep your faith and God and just cling to him. He won't let go. Gods on your side and He's proud of you too!!!

I'm praying for you!

God Bless,
Sarah

Today I've decided to quit drinking. I don't drink alot but when I do 90% of the time the intent is to get drunk, not have a drink socially. So I put a ticker on my website to count down to a year and hopefully keep on going.
Thats really good. I always liked to say that I drink socially, but the truth is...that wasn't it. I think I was trying to put myself out of my misery. Keep up the good choice!! Not that I considered myself to have a drinking problem...but once I take a drink I want more and I realize that I could easily become someone that drinks all the time. I decided to be sober---no social drinking either--and its been 2 months.
