Child loses their glasses and their parent is a pastor. The parent told the congregation the story about the glasses. Then spoke to the members saying they (pastor) want (hope) the glasses to be at the front of the sanctuary the next Sunday. They also said the child could not get new glasses until summer time. What a joke of a lie. $65 gets an exam and two pair. This so the parent can show the child how God can answer prayers. Divided persons on this. To have the glasses in their possession or someone else's possession who is going to be there early Sunday to plant the glasses at the front say it's a sin. And their spouse is guilty too by allowing it. Others say buy the kid a new pair and warn "next time" they may have to help pay for them with weekly deductions from the kid's allowance. That is the lesson to be learned by the child. Do not use deception to create this falsehood with a 7 year old child. Who knows the glasses could be in the parent's possession as we speak and hiding them to play some game with the truth.

If this is your church speak to the pastor.
Personally I would leave such a church, as this is probably only the tip of the iceburg of questionable practises.

One can't achieve godly ends - which is to say, ends that are truthful, honest, full of openness and light - by ungodly means (deception, falsehood, illusion).

The parent is the pastor. Some think the person who found the glasses shortly after "lost" at a small playground should have returned them to the child (or parent) then and there. With a word of warning such as they cost alot you need to protect your glasses, it was fortunate this time that they were found, next time they may not be found = lesson learned by the child. Opinions have been presented to the parent and we'll see what happens with the glasses.
