And whoever it was that created a thread using this article as support should admit their error. There's no shame, it happens.

From Forum Rules:

Do not direct, imply, or suggest that others should disregard doctors' orders regarding medical diagnosis and/or treatment.

From the CDC:

In an editorial published today in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), CDC reviewed the latest science and affirms that cloth face coverings are a critical tool in the fight against COVID-19 that could reduce the spread of the disease, particularly when used universally within communities. There is increasing evidence that cloth face coverings help prevent people who have COVID-19 from spreading the virus to others.

Hmmm.........precisely where do suggestions that masks don't work fit into this picture?

Are such statements not "implications to ignore doctor's orders about medical treatment"?

Yeah. There are plenty of other studies (done preCovid) that show the ineffectiveness of masks.

No, masks do work. They are proven to work to protect others from you.

It’s the same as saying that masks do work.

There are plenty of studies that say different.

So, next time you need surgery, why not ask the surgeons and their team not to wear masks? After all, they don't work anyway, right?

There are plenty of studies that say masks do work. Since medical professionals use masks, I am going to go with medical professionals, and yes, I am a medical professional.

There’s a study on that, too.

OK, let's take this step-by-step.

Who developed the CDC guidance to wear masks? Lawyers? Hotel Desk Clerks? Rodeo Clowns?

No - doctors developed them. And these doctors recommend their use.

Now then, here again is the forum rule:

Do not direct, imply, or suggest that others should disregard doctors' orders regarding medical diagnosis and/or treatment.

See a problem?

I'm sure there is. That doesn't mean it's right.

Masks do work. Period. End of story.
If you are in a room where air is recirculated, everyone is breathing the same air. Regardless of distance or masks. The only thing a mask might do is hold some spit or snot in.

If folks want to wear masks, then by all means, wear them.

And what is on that spit or snot? The virus.

Are people really that contrary about masks that they have to find every little thing they can to make them not work? Wear the mask. It protects others and others wearing masks protect you.

I wear them until I sit down, on the very rare occasion I go to a restaurant. And I think its stupid. I guess the virus does not spread in restaurants once we are sitting. I don't get out much. I don't wear them at the local store, but I avoid crowded times.

It was the only thing that the restaurants could do in order to open. You cannot eat with a mask on.

I have been transporting Covid patients for over a year, I have not caught Covid. I have asthma, so if I had caught Covid it would hit me hard.

Masks do work! Otherwise, I would have had Covid by now.
