• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Debate forum for apologists theists and counter-apologist atheists to exercise their arguments. Seriously, atheists can't post in the apologetics section? What is apologetics for if not to convince the non-believer?

I completely agree with this; yesterday I made my first post in a thread openly discussing what Atheists beliefs are and getting them wrong. So as an Atheist I put my point across, only to be told that I was not welcome.

The point I made in response was as follows:
"As an Atheist, I think the worst thing I could do is to seek out information I already agree with, so frequenting an Atheist forum would be largely pointless and it would 'confirm my bias' and I would fail to learn much or even anything new at all.

If one has a belief, the fastest way to strengthen or lose that thought is to hear the arguments against and to question the things one takes as gospel. Few people do this and by excluding Atheists from discussion one is not only denying me knowledge and education but one is also denying themselves the same luxury.

As Atheism was being discussed in this thread, I felt my side of the story was necessary to the discussion.

Was I asked, upon my registration, for how I define myself, just so I can be marginalised and silenced by the majority? I genuinely would like to know."
