  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, I think that gays are in error, and that the church shouldn't approve of gay marriage. I also think we should not support gay secular marriage. But if gays started getting married in courthouses, it really wouldn't bother me too much. I think that we must be careful to use kindness when explaining the Gospel to gays, because far too many people have used Christianity as a vehicle for hatred and violence against gays.

In other words: I'm against homosexuality, but you wouldn't catch me dead with a "God hates" sign.

I fear that this kind of discussion/debate is really pointless. There are many of us who think that there is nothing wrong with being homosexual and there are some of us who think that it is a sin. Regardless of our opinion, the real message is that we need to be tolerant of others beliefs and not cause further divide by useless debates.

well that's wrong...because according the bible/church{god's word COUGH!} gay is seriously...gay.

Did you actually read the Scripture references yourself? Or did you pull that off an atheist website? By the way, do you actually know the Scriptures that refer to homosexuality? There are only about five passages in the Bible.

So if you're not going to be the kinda person that holds up signs saying god hates gays, then you're obviously a person who speaks for themselves.

Are you a Christian? If so, then rebuke me for my lack of hatred by providing Scripture references. If you're not a Christian, then you don't really have any authority to tell me how to practice my religion...sorry.

if you didnt know that then ill wait for you to rethink your position

Sorry, I haven't changed it yet!

Romans 1 : 21 - 28:

Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. 24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

21-23 seems to say that people didn't go around thanking god for every little thing. And they started spending too much time in front of a mirror. And became fools. Hmm.
23-24 appears to say that if you think god looks like a corrupting man-bird-mammal-lizard, then you are in ERROR!
24-25 so god cast them into a mud-pit. And made them do things to their bodies that dishonored the mentioned body. Which could mean anything.
25-26 Whoever wrote this must have played black and white at some time, because aparently people refused to acknowledge un-specified truths about god, and started worshipping his "Creature", instead. Perhaps because it had better fur.
26-27 And so god gave men a thirst for vanilla-flavoured bubble-gum and gave out drivers licenses to all the women.
27-28 And he gave the men a featherduster, a saucepan and a brush with wich to clean the dishes. And the men did cook and clean. And broke more glasses and plates than was affordable.

Harken to the words long written down!
