  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I've heard recently of some people who've been treated really badly in a house group with the leader not far from papal authority pontificating against people and being generally controlling and manipulative. How can this be stopped or fought against? The couple in question are now afraid to go into the street they feel so demoralised and worthless due to their treatment.

This is not at all uncommon, what you described. Back in the 70s, cell groups were a very popular device used within the sheep/shepherding groups. Talk about domineering leadership!

While I was a part of one, I was commanded to wash my pastor's car as needed, babysit his children every Thursday night, shave my beard, and to quit hanging out with my brother.

Needless to say, I fled from that group in a short time.

I believe, at present, that God is calling his sons and daughters out of Babylon, out of the commercial, domineering, compromising and illiterate gatherings that so sadly saturate today's homegrown fellowships.
