  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello all, I am only 35, but am dealing with an issue which I have always taken forgranted: my hearing. In recent days and weeks, I've noticed that I have a persistent (hopefully temporary) ringing in my ears. This is due to some not so intelligent decisions I've made by listening to my mp3 player basically non stop for several weeks.

I've continued to go to loud events such as sporting events, and the ringing problem has gotten slightly worse. Now, I fear it may be too late, and I feel like I have some slight hearing loss (things sound more muffled than in the past).

Does anyone hear have similar issues, and how have you dealt with it? I've had all sorts of other physical ailments, but none has had the emotional impact that this one has had. Thanks.

Yes, I asked about it, but the audiologist was not that helpful. She did not know much about it, since her job consists primarily of fitting older people with hearing aids.

She insisted everything was normal and that I live life as I normally had prior to the issue. Not a very informed opinion, and I do not think she will be someone I refer people to in the future.

Is this permanent, chronic, or just temporary?

I think up to 10% or 20% of the population deals with this problem chronically.

the dr. my mom saw said to her after a gun caused her to get ringing in the ears & hearing loss to avoid loud sounds as much as possible.
(incl. vacs & airplanes, etc.)

does this mean deafness and/or ringing? How has this affected quality of life? I'm thinking if you deal with this earlier in life you just get used to it?

My hearing hasn't been great since I was a kid. Have a doc check you out, there are quite a few options out there, however the longer you wait the smaller those options get.

I had quite a bit of hearing loss and vertigo for at least ten years.I researched and started taking magnesium (+ calcium for absorption) and over a year or two my hearing has improved 85% at least.it was a deficiency, which also caused my neck and shoulder muscles to be tense and hard all the time.
I'm healed of all of it now,but continue to take the magnesium everyday because I feel so much better and get tense and stressed without it.
just something to consider :sorry:
